Cheer me up...I went jeans shopping today :-(

As I said on my 'High-waisted trouser' thread, I went looking for a pair of HWTs or jeans today & found nothing. Some Dotty P ones which looked fab on website turned out to be really tight to the knee then flarey. Same with the Uniqlo ones. I looked shit in all of them. Went to Topshop. Their cut looked the same tho I can't say for certain as at a glance I could tell I wasn't going to get them over my thighs & I really wasn't in the mood for ritual humiliation. In fact it was a big mistake to go to TS as, as per usual, it left me feeling old, fat & frumpy.

WHY is noone doing trousers/jeans with a high-waist & the leg hanging straight or wide (but parallel, not flarey) from the hip , not the knee.

Feel really crap

ps I'm only a size 12, god knows how women bigger than me must feel...

I tried on some in TS which were gynaecologically revealing a while ago.

trixymalixy · 21/09/2007 17:08

Oasis' high waisted trousers are very flattering and I'm a size 14.

mazzystar · 21/09/2007 17:09

Its not you that's crap, its the fashion

Even on a size 12 hwts going to be unforgiving and make bum look vast

nutcracker · 21/09/2007 17:09

M&S and Next normally do higher waisted ones.

You have my sympathy. I had a very demoralising jean-buying excursion a couple of weeks ago.

But the high-waisted jeans/trews are bound to be flared aren't they? Because they are sort of 70s stylee.

(Flares rule by the way - my shopping trip was saved by finding a lovely pair of TopShop 'skinny-flares'. I got depressed trying all the flipping cigarette/skinny leg jeans).

I went jeans shopping today and neither Gap, nor Next could muster jeans to fit me. Ended up in the ficking children's dept at Debenhams where Jasper Conran Aged 15 jeans fit me. So went upstairs thinking I'd look for the smallest size in grown up JC would fit. But it was too small . So have pink jeans, with sparkles, slightly too short for me.

I have just discovered New Look Hula's - bootcut, dark rinse and best of all £10, they are certainly not hipsters. (Dislike New Look normally but saw these at the front door when I was passing by and tried them on - voila!)

Cappuccino · 21/09/2007 17:22

jeans are ugly things imo

have finally given up on them

have not worn them (without a dress underneath) for over a year

Cappuccino · 21/09/2007 17:23

dress underneath honestly

I mean on top

doh

how do the low rise fit on you? i've jsut got a lovely pair of low rise ones - I was worried my ahem baby belly (read flab) would overhang but they're actually v v good.

also DP's petit range are good - but I need to go up a size.

scampadoodle · 21/09/2007 17:52

Whomoved my choc: are you going to get some light-up trainers to go with them?!

I'm kinda fed-up with low-rise 'cos I'm long waisted & it's hard to get tops long enough (my stomach's ok, it's just that I get cold!)

Cod, I AM a freakozoid, you're right. Jeez, I'm amazed TS let me thru the door

The frustrating thing is, I know that wide-leg, hip & thigh skimming trousers suit me, but I can't seem to find any. I should start my own fashion line, for small/long waisted women with fat thighs.
