You sound like me! The only jeans I found that worked are Dorothy Perkins. Gap makes me cry. Levis are okay but end up baggy somehow.

charliecat · 21/09/2007 13:29

2nd for DP.

bobbiewickham · 21/09/2007 13:32

Right, you sound about the same size as me.
Gap used to make me cry too, but they've changed the sizing and now they offer waist and leg measurements, like mens', instead of 12s, 14s, etc! Tis fab and life changing! Got some lovely bootcuts the other day and they actually fit!

Only slightly depressing thing is that I have discovered that my waist circumference is the same as my leg length. Feel like a weeble

selfridges will measure you and provide ideal fitting jeans with perfect size pockets and positioned seams for your shape....or so they say....for £200+....personally would try dotty p's first...

I think you sound like a similar shape to me (although it's hard to remember what I looked like before I was pregnant!). I used to like Topshop and Zara jeans.

Gap jeans sometimes work. Have you tried their Long and Lean range? I know on their website they were doing different cuts for different shapes (eg. straight, curvy, super curvy) but I'm not sure if they sell those in the shops too.

Isababel · 21/09/2007 13:40

Another one for Dorothy Perkins.

I try to find jeans with wide leg, they have extra room for my bottom so the waist is fine.

I have just found 2 pairs in M&S (Per una) that fitted surprisingly well.

Agh...shirts...either straining at the buttons across boobs but fit nicely round waist or fit boobs but you could fit another person in the waist bit. DH loves me in shirts but I look sh*t in them for the above reasons

Fimbo · 21/09/2007 13:52

I have a similar problem and have just bought a pair of fab jeans from NewLook for £10 (as I rule I hate NewLook, so was pleasantly surprised). They are dark, bootcut and exceptional value for £10.

gap

KTeePee · 21/09/2007 13:57

You sound like you have a similar shape to me - best fit I have found in the UK are Gap Long & Lean BUT if possible get the ones which have a small percentage of lycra or similar in them - makes all the difference

newgirl · 21/09/2007 13:59

i am sitting in a pair of boden jeans shock horror and they fit very well

i had to get four pairs - one 12 fitted the other 12 did not and neither did the 14s so if you are tempted make sure you get the free returns thing

i also have lovely jeans from dorothy perkins!!

new look are surprisingly good for curves - i prefered their 12 quid hulas to seven for all mankind!

Fimbo · 21/09/2007 14:06

NewGirl, Hulas are what I got. They are only £10 now.

May seem a bit old-fogey for some, but I find Lands Ends jeans are more realistic in sizing for those of us post-babies, and they do different leg lengths, petites, plus sizes etc. Maybe give the elastic waists a miss though...

charliecat · 21/09/2007 17:30

those hulas, the pockets always slip out on mone, drive me mad!

Jazzicatz · 21/09/2007 17:37

The best jeans I have found, and they are fab, are Diesel Jeans, they fit really well and are extremely flattering.

pirategirl · 21/09/2007 17:43

i'll 2nd the hulas, i got some last week, they r very different from what i normally wear. They are my, feeling not too fat today jeans, wheras i normally wear boyfriend/skater type jeans.

BUt cool for a tenner.

In fact, my sister turned up at the weekend in a black pair, and she never buys black jeans, or ones like this, but hey we both seemed to have the same idea.

I long to go to Gap and see what the fuss is about, but the nearest one is well over an hour away.

scampadoodle · 21/09/2007 17:57

I have exactly the same problem, yorkshire girl (have an ongoing thread re jeans shopping) but last year I got some Gap Boy Fits & they are nice. Don't know if they still do them though. Am currently trying to find some high-waisters, without success. Liposuction - it's the only way

izzybiz · 21/09/2007 17:58

Im another DP fan, they always have lovely jeans, as do Next.

newgirl · 21/09/2007 18:35

10 hulas! bargain!

pollywollydoodle · 21/09/2007 21:25

re norks;waist problems...bravissimo do tops/shirts now for various levels of curviness
