Jumpsuits: how do you go to the loo??

Ramalamalama · 25/05/2020 10:25

I always discounted jumpsuits as I thought they’d be incredibly unflattering on me (bit of a tummy, big bum) but there seem to be some much more flattering ones around at the moment, I also can’t wear heels which I thought I’d have to wear with one but I’ve seen plenty styled with flats recently so think that might work.

I’d really like to try a jumpsuit out, the only thing still putting me off is that I don’t understand how you go to the loo when you’re wearing one. So how does that work? Do you effectively have to strip off completely?

Are you being obtuse OP? Of course you have to strip down from the top.

I suppose you could always see poppers in the crotch if for some odd reason the strip down from the top bothers you

Ramalamalama · 25/05/2020 10:34

Oh ok. Yes, I am being stupid! I just thought that there might be some whizzy way of including a concealed zip or some kind of clever clothing technology that would mean you wouldn’t have to do that. But now you say it I realise how idiotic that would actually be...

Is it wildly impractical to have to do that or am I overthinking it?

The ones with some kind of elasticated element (chest, waist, around shoulders) are easier than those that zip up the back. Buttons down the front are also annoying if, like mine, there are about 15 buttons rather than two.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2020 10:38

Some are easier than others. Ones with buttons at the front are easier than the ones with zips up the back, but the latter can be easier if you attach a ribbon to the zip puller. But yes, you have to strip off, of course.

SpillTheTeaa · 25/05/2020 10:50

Cut a whole in the crotch Grin

I think that is why you don't see many being worn outside wearer's own home. The thought of stripping down and your top draping on the floor in the office loo or even worse type of loo cubicle is a nightmare I don't want

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2020 11:22

My top has never draped on the floor, even after a few beers!

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 25/05/2020 11:23

Some people who make their own clothes, are making fake jumpsuits where it's just a top and trousers of the same material, worn together it looks like a jumpsuit but solves the toilet issue.

northernlittledonkey · 25/05/2020 11:25

I got a boden one recently looks great on, but an utter pain to go to the loo in. Was considering getting another as it looks so good, but I’ve changed my mind!

Pandapotato · 25/05/2020 12:40

You get used to it! But I’ve never braved one if I know it’s a portaloo situation!

Mixingitall · 25/05/2020 13:05

I stupidly wore one for a meeting, and travelled from London to York on the train, boy did I regret that! I realised the cubicle was too filthy to drop the jump suit, didn’t, and spent the rest of the journey dying for the loo!

Now I only wear one when I know I am going somewhere with clean loos!

Mnthrowaway20202 · 25/05/2020 14:39

I wear jumpsuits and bodysuits all the time and never have an issue. I don’t have bladder problems and I purposely avoid public bathrooms so this isn’t something I consider when getting dressed.

I just pull it down like trousers, not necessarily completely stripping off if I don’t need to. The bathrooms at work are clean with cubicles that have a sink & mirror inside, so large enough that I can manoeuvre myself/the jumpsuit without touching anything else in there.

If I was desperate and had to use a filthy public loo I’d either take it off and temporarily put it in my bag or hold onto it for dear life to stop the top half from touching anything.

BlusteryLake · 25/05/2020 14:47

I bought my first jumpsuit about 18 months ago and am a convert! I now have several. I don't find that the top trails on the floor, especially if it's got short sleeves. I have relatively long arms so don't struggle with zips at the back, and prefer a zip to buttons.

plunkplunkfizz · 25/05/2020 15:08

Obviously you don’t just drop it on the loo floor. You hold some tension with your knees and keep it there while you pee, wipe sitting down then stand up pulling the knickers and jumpsuit at the same time.

KavvLar · 25/05/2020 17:54

The ones with zips at the back are almost impossible to manage by yourself. I have a lovely tailored jumpsuit which has a tiny zip and unless you’re a contortionist I fail to see how you could unzip it alone. I have to have a wing man (lady) if I go to the loo in it.

Aworldofmyown · 25/05/2020 17:58

I love my jumpsuits. But definitely keep an eye on the fastening before purchase!!!
Never had a problem in the toilet, I dont drop it to the floor. Kind of pull it down to my knees as trousers and hook the arms between the legs iyswim!!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2020 18:31

Kavv - try attaching a fine ribbon to the zipper: works a treat.

Violetroselily · 25/05/2020 18:58

I once went into the toilets at work and a lady leapt out of a cubicle to ask me to zip up her jumpsuit. Not sure how long she'd been waiting for someone to come in to help!

StarlightLady · 26/05/2020 07:20

A winter’s day in an outdoor public loo, sitting on the pot, in my bra, freezing and trying to stop the sleeves dropping on the floor put me off ever buying another.

Deathraystare · 26/05/2020 11:46

This is why i would never wear one. When I have to pee, I have to pee. I would also not like it getting on the floor in rather un-salubrious loos!

I know perfectly normal women can deal with this but I know I would get in a right to-do. I would definitely have an accident!

Plus they would not be flattering on my big apple-y tum!

BlusteryLake · 26/05/2020 14:29

I don't go into public toilets on a daily basis. I mostly wear mine to work so only using the loo at either home or office, both of which are nice.

Feelingdeprived · 26/05/2020 14:49

I’ve got a really wide legged one and wang to seeing if I can hitch up the legs and pee through the leg hole! Only because I plan to wear a shirt knotted at the waist of it so then that’s something else to take off.

WingBingo · 27/05/2020 13:09

I forgot to properly close the lock on a toilet door at work.

As I was wearing a jumpsuit the surprised individual got a bit of an eyeful.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/05/2020 18:38

Don't leave til the lat minute is all I'd caution Blush
