I have my DP's mothers wedding in just over 2 weeks and his brothers wedding 6 weeks after that. I want a nice dress that I can wear to both of them and just change the look with different accessories so that its not blatantly obvious that I'm wearing the same dress. I really cant afford to buy 2 totally separate outfits plus accessories.

I was thinking along the lines of a nice black dress that I can make colourful with bag shoes etc.

Help me please!!

OK - we need more information - what size are you? What sort of shape (ie, big norks, no norks, waist, hips, umm, good arms/arms need to be covered). Any colours you like/hate? And an idea of budget for the dress would be good too

Next has some smart black dresses here search.next.co.uk/search?w=black+dress&p=Q&ts=v2&nxti=0&nxtv=0
You could change the look by wearing different colour shrugs or sash belts as in some of the Next pics.

Any of these?

brandnewhelsy · 19/09/2007 22:26

what about this?

JackieNo · 19/09/2007 22:29

Wallis do a petite range - some nice looking plain-ish ones there. Just get yourself a couple of shrug type things, and different shoes, and you could be sorted.

yelnats · 19/09/2007 22:31

love the 2nd one on your first link brandnewhelsy - dp doesnt like the price but he can be persuaded.

Hmm I wouldn't wear a strapless dress for a wedding, personally. Prefer the 3rd one along - looks versatile. Also the one with the sequinned waistband and short sleeves in the Wallis petite range?

flowerybeanbag · 20/09/2007 18:54

How about a top and skirt instead? Just thinking about the size 12 bottom half and size 14/16 top half, dress fitting might be a bit tricky?

I like this, and maybe this?

yelnats · 21/09/2007 21:55

like the top - skirts not really me to be honest. Ive decided Im best to go out shopping and try lots on so Im off out on Monday - will let you know what I eventually get - prob come back with nothing for me and bags of stuff for the kids as usual.
