Deadheading the roses - a ladygarden question

so. I am a bit of a bikini-line waxing novice. have done it once as a bit of an experiment, and a second time for my honeymoon. Now dh has finally admitted he is more of a botanical gardens than virgin rainforest kind of a man, and I am booking myself in for my third wax.
my questions.
what is the difference between a brazillian, a hawaiian, and just a normal bikini wax - in terms of appearance, pain, and regrowth discomfort?
and (sorry if TMI) what is the ideal length for existing growth to be at, when you go in for the wax? First time it was fully grown and it hurt very much, I was advised to trim slightly the next time around. A couple of weeks ago I had an emergency shave - we had a swimming trip - so it is all quite stubbly, and praps too short just yet?
any advice much appreciated

ok for a start deadheading the roses brings a totally different image to mind [euwww]

normal bikini wax takes it off your thighs
brazillian leaves a landing strip I believe

never heard of a hawaiin

I find waxing promotes ingrowing hairs which are far more unsightly personally

Do you mean a Hollywood wax? That takes off everything from the front round to the anus.

IMO if you exfoliate every day using a loofah, body scrub or whatever you won't get any ingrowing hairs. They are caused when the follicle gets blocked up by dead skin cells, body lotion etc.

everything? I think I might not go for that just yet... isn't the growing back period crazy itchy?? Quite like the landing strip idea tho
OK. I still need advice about the length of pube pre-wax. Anyone?

4 mm is ideal,

hawaian - never heard
brazil - landing strip
hollywood - everything

i always have a hollywood, once every three weeks, its v painful if you've shaved, as hair gorws back stonger (never understand how or why but said so many times i now believe)

OH NO! I'd just about gotten the guts to go & get waxed but now I've read that it hurts more if you've shaved it before!

Are there any other alternatives to shaving or waxing & does the waxing get less painful the more you go?

Just reeeaaaally can't be bothered to shave anywhere anymore... surely someone can invent a painless permanent method of hair removal?

Hideehi · 21/09/2007 07:47

I use hair removig cream as i just can't face waxing i bled and went so spotty afterwards the pubes looked better.

Just to quash a myth - shaving doesnt make hair stronger - just blunter so it appears stronger because you've shorn off the whispy bit at the end IYSWIM.

Why not try hot waxing as opposed to warm wax? No strips are used - it is applied directly to the skin, where it hardens to the consistency of melted toffee and then it it peeled off slowly and feels like a plaster coming away. It is very thorough a less painful I think than wax strips.

PurlyQueen · 21/09/2007 20:12

My bikini wax did sting more but it wasn't unbearable.

It was partly my fault because my last was must have been before I conceived and I'm 13 weeks now, so my bikini line was rather overgrown, IYSWIM.

I think the moral is to go regularly as the less hair there is, the less painful it will be.

PSCMUM · 21/09/2007 20:55

i know the hair growing back stronger thing makes no sense at all, but i usually don't shave, i usually just wax, and its painful, but not like eye wateringly painful, but last time, i'd shaved about a week before and MY GOD the pain. the woman in the salon gave me a nurofen and a glass of champagne to calm me down! seriously, whether its based in science or not, it made it hurt more and i am not doing it again!
