I've just coloured and cut my own hair.

And I'm so pleased with the result I'm thinking I'll never need a hairdresser again!

I haven't styled it or used product. All I've done in the pics is rough dry just to check it looked ok when dry.

I should've taken a before pic. But it was about 2 inches of dark and grey roots and a very mis-shaped cut. I last went to the hairdressers in Feb.

How did you make it so straight at the back?

I did the Mumsnet "unicorn" cut where you put your hair in a ponytail at your forehead and cut across.

I then cut my fringe and blended the edges in.

I took about an inch off the length. My tip is to cut off less than you think you need to.

What colour did you use?

This link has a few different techniques depending on your hair type. I felt the unicorn was most suitable for mine.
