Oh yes, lets talk gilets - I've often wondered whether I should get one...

cardy · 18/09/2007 17:27

knitted ones yes, padded or fur ones no.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2007 17:29

knitted ? as in waistcoaty ?

cardy · 18/09/2007 17:30

more chunky than that. I'll try and find one and do a link (not very good at that)

Twiglett · 18/09/2007 17:31

NO

even when everyone was wearing them they looked stooooooooopid!

if you're cold wear a coat

if you're mucking out the horses you may wear one

lovey · 18/09/2007 17:33

YES - Jack Wills do fab quality, and lovely and warm

cardy · 18/09/2007 17:34

or with shortsleeves (like a shortsleeved chunky cardigan). I'm not selling it am I?

www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?parent_category_rn=42325&top=Y& langId=-1&storeId=12556&catalogId=19551&categoryId=74420&beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true

I have a fake fur one from Jasper Conran. I bought it in 2004 and I still love it.

I wear it with allsorts.

Not seen many about though.

quadrophenia · 18/09/2007 18:10

I think you have to be very careful with gillets and how you wear them, otherwise they can look very mum uniformy, flat round toe lace up boats, cargo trousers and gillet seems the common combo round here, its just a bit lacking in imagination really. I wore mine with long sleeved dress and jeans and scarf, but I look liek a walking jumble sale most days

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2007 18:22

I should think the quilty ones would look bulky too - there is a nice one in cord in the White Stuff www.whitestuff.com

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/09/2007 18:23

it's the As you like it gilet £49

I agree Cod! I am a 36 DD and could look like Michelin man which is why I am thinking no to a quilted one!
