Hair - natural but different colours at top and ends - what to do?

I’m in my early 50s. Used to colour my hair all the time but completely cropped it about 7 years ago and while I kept it really short for about 3 years I stopped colouring it at all just to see what it would be like. It’s now totally my natural colour, and I have let it grow again (I like to change things up every now and then) It’s now down past my shoulders and layered at the bottom. It’s not particularly thick but I do have a lot of it.

It’s got very silvery sections at both my temples, which I quite like.and some grey dotted through it. Otherwise it is a sort of mousey to mid brownish I guess you’d call it. But the ends of it are a much warmer sort of honey ish colour than the sides and top. I guess it must be from the sun as I know I haven’t dyed or coloured it in anyway. It's not quite as obvious in the photo but in reality there is quite a difference

Is there a way to help both colours merge a bit better? I’m not particularly keen to colour it again as it is already quite dry and just gets drier if coloured but if there was some wash or shampoo or something to help make the difference in colour bit less noticeable that’d be good. Or if it has to be artificially coloured suggestions on what I would need to have in order to merge top and ends slightly without having to do block colours or hugely expensive colouring jobs every six weeks (once hairdressers open again of course)

any ideas?

Alternatively, anything quite edgy and fun would also be considered as feck it I am VERY bored right now!

I had a similar effect on mine but put it down to the bottom hair pre-dating the grey coming in. I lopped off the bottom 6 inches of mine, getting rid of the warmer toned/non grey section.

thanks Miaowse - mine is funny as the grey has been there since I had the crop, but the older hair just seems to have become a warmer colour somehow over time. Maybe I'll try lopping it and see what happens over the summer ...
