Where do you shop if you used to shop at Crew, Boden, FatFace and White Stuff?

Up until about 8 years ago (fewer for Boden), these retailers had clothes that I really liked, which had some interest to them without being fussy. Now I like their clothes a lot less - they mainly have very boring stripy tops and blouses that my mum (in her sixties) would wear. Fatface dresses these days tend to be frumpy and sack-shaped. Is anyone else less keen than they used to be on these retailers, and if so, where do you now shop?!

Apricot

SpeedofaSloth · 09/05/2020 16:31

I have just discovered Comptoir des Cotonniers, which is bad news for my bank account TBH.

Mixingitall · 09/05/2020 16:32

The trend for dresses is frumpy and sack shaped, lower drop waist and very floaty. It looks lovely on a very hot day on holiday but not for every day use in the UK.

Have you tried looking at Hush, Baukjen, Jigsaw, Mango and Zara?

lazylinguist · 09/05/2020 16:34

Me too, exactly, OP. Place marking for ideas!

YgritteSnow · 09/05/2020 16:36

Gap and find I prefer it. Not so fussy.

sweetheartyparty · 09/05/2020 16:37

I like the look of Hush, haven't bought anything yet though

Grumpbum123 · 09/05/2020 16:40

Hush and Sainsbury’s

Blackforesthotchoc · 09/05/2020 17:36

Seasalt. Lovely designs and good quality.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/05/2020 17:38

Seasalt
Uniqlo
Trouva - usually the sales

Crookshanksthecat · 09/05/2020 20:00

I used to shop at white stuff, crew clothing, Boden and fat face but have got right off them in recent years now I shop mainly at mint velvet and white company (sales mostly!) sometimes Joules, Quba, Seasalt, hush.

Richlyfruited · 09/05/2020 20:23

Feels like there's a massive gap in the market for clothes at the moment - especially now Oasis and Warehouse gone Sad

I still buy quite a bit from WS but their target market has definitely shifted towards 'frumpy' patterns and cuts (sorry if that offends anyone who loves them!) I think the quality of FF is really variable - lots of scratchy acrylic knitwear last season so I have avoided it.

I buy Mint Velvet and Hush in the sale and like some of the JL own brand ranges. Other than that it's TK Maxx as I like the quality and variety of stuff I find there especially the Danish brands.

JingleCatJingle · 09/05/2020 22:05

Uniqlo!

TheCanterburyWhales · 09/05/2020 22:16

Jigsaw. Hobbs. Zara. Mango. Me & Em.
Still Boden for trousers though.

Oly4 · 09/05/2020 22:22

Still like Boden for basics and work trousers. But now shop at Jigsaw, Hobbs and White Company. Though some of their prices are eye watering so I shop less

FeathersMcG · 09/05/2020 22:23

& other stories- glorious.

ScapaFlo · 09/05/2020 22:24

Mistral and Lily & Me are nice too

inwood · 09/05/2020 22:25

Hush. Newly converted and my bank account is suffering.

shinynewapple2020 · 09/05/2020 22:30

Surely if you are finding Fatface and White Stuff frumpy, you are not going to replace them with Joules and Seasalt?

themerchantofvenice · 10/05/2020 10:14

Gant, Ralph Lauren, Pure Collection, Sezane, Muji, LLBean all worth a look

BacklashStarts · 10/05/2020 10:18

Primark, gap and Uniqlo with work stuff from next. Tbh the quality and consistency of boden plummeted to the point where I was having to send more than half back as it was either a weird fit or nothing like advertised.

BacklashStarts · 10/05/2020 10:19

I also realised I’d rather have a couple of things from next than 1 from boden as since the quality and last was no better what as I paying for?

twosoups1972 · 10/05/2020 11:53

Jigsaw
Hush
Whistles
Comptoir
Me and Em
