Rightly or wrongly, I want some high-waisted trousers or jeans (wide leg, not skinny). Where can I get 'em?

A couple of friends have said they think I'd suit them (I'm tall, size 12 with a small waist BUT big legs, hence the wanting wide-legs) & I like that whole 1940s-little-jumper-tucked-in-with-a-nice-belt look. I'm hoping that if the back pockets sit high enough up, the trews won't make my bum look huge...
Anyway, opinions are invited, but I'd also like to know who's selling some nice ones. I'm going into central London on Friday.

I gave the thread this title 'cos a while ago there was a discussion about high-waisters & the general opinion seemed to be that they are really unflattering & make one's arse look huge. But I'm long waisted & am sick of tops being too short & getting chilly kidneys. Also I look quite, quite hideous in skinnies & I've already got a couple of pairs of 'boyfriends'.

I bought these today and they are fab!

Have a look in topshop. they have some high waisted wide leg jeans, but imo not v flattering on the bum. Saw some in a mag from Oasis which looked v nice.

P.s. scampadoodle, what the hell were those fireworks, I'm in North London, and they were soooo loud. People downstairs thought that it was a terrible explosion!!

reporting on the uniqlo website for tinker: quick delivery, really good jeans & sweater dress. a couple of things are going back. oh, & they forgot my purple cashmere cardigan . but overall i'm impressed. and i got compliments in the playground wearing dress & jeans combo .

these ones. am going to return the stuff to an actual shop so i can have a root around.

I bought on the waist bootleg jeans from m&s for £9.50 yesterday as I am on a diet all my jeans are falling off and hopefully these will be aswell soon. So cheap and cheerful were fine.
