Where do you shop if you are in your 30's

I used to love Miss Selfridge, New Look etc and they do have some lovely clothes still but I don't feel like they're me anymore, some of the clothes feel too young for me. Not saying I am old, just not young enough to wear a crop top or a t shirt with jaunty slogans on. That's just me! Where do you shop if you're 30 ish? Especially now that Warehouse is closing down, I used to love it there!

I’m only just 30 but ... &Other Stories, Uniqlo, French Connection, Mint Velvet (for jeans ... but also Topshop for jeans tbf).

milienhaus · 01/05/2020 14:37

I also loved Oasis and Warehouse and am sad they’re gone!

TeddyIsaHe · 01/05/2020 14:55

31 -H&M, Topshop (mainly for jeans) Zara, Uniqlo for basics, Hush, Dorothy Perkins and Reiss (in the sale!!).

Tootletum · 01/05/2020 14:58

In my 30s I moved to shopping in John Lewis , plus Reiss although bit too expensive. Also took up Next, some M&S (although too frustrated by all the ranges), Zara, Mango, Phase Eight, Hobbs, Ted Baker.

paradisefalls · 01/05/2020 15:02

35, river island is my go to shop, also H&M and F&f at Tesco.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 01/05/2020 15:05

ASOS, Dorothy Perkins

For work stuff;
George, Tu Sainsbury's

londongirl12 · 01/05/2020 15:06

Go to a shopping centre (when lockdown ends!) and just go in every shop. Sometimes I find something nice in a shop that I thought was an "old lady shop" lol.

Coldemort · 01/05/2020 15:08

At least half my wardrobe is from Oasis. I'm shop-orphaned Sad

Swiftier · 01/05/2020 15:24

I’m early 30s and I shop in a variety of places, but focus on quality and don’t buy cheap/disposable items. I like certain shops for certain types of items - like one shop might be good for workwear but another shop good for summer dresses etc.

Pretty much all my knitwear, blouses, skirts and dresses are from:
Sezane
Rouje

I have good smart clothes for work from Sezane (blouses and trousers) as well as from Massimo Dutti.

The best jeans I have are from MiH but I also have some from Sezane and Rouje and also from Zara.

Investment coats from Macintosh and Max Mara.

Whistles and Other Stories for the odd top or jumpsuit, or summer/going out dress.

Love Hunza G for bikinis and swimwear

Sunspel for basic tees and so on.

Desmond and Dempsey and Derek Rose for PJs.

HattieMid2 · 01/05/2020 15:27

H&M and ASOS mainly for me.
I also get loads from Depop!

BestestBrownies · 01/05/2020 15:29

I am on a tight budget so usually shop:-

Uniqlo for everyday basics (better quality and cheaper than Gap, often with good sale bargains), especially their base layer heattech tops in winter and cotton t-shirts in summer.

M&S for everyday knickers, workwear (black trousers and plain shirts), and the odd surprisingly decent accessory purchase.

Zara & Mango for nice casual wear (tops & dresses), although quality has reduced drastically in last few years and trousers are always stupidly long.

H&M and Topshop less and less so. Tend to get one or two fashionable summer holiday bits and that’s about it now. Usually feel disappointed after looking round.

Monsoon, Whistles, French Connection and Coast sales for special occasion dresses or going out tops.

I buy a lot from EBay these days as cba with traipsing round shops and can’t afford full price for items like winter coat, knitwear, boots etc. Also I’m finding the older I get the more bothered I am about quality, so will check for natural fabric content and care instructions (if dry clean only forget it!). I also notice I’m ironing more as I feel so much more put together in clothes that have been ironed vs those that haven’t.

Lifeaback · 01/05/2020 15:45

Zara, ASOS, & other stories, Anthropologie, All Saints, Joy, Oliver Bonas, Whistles, I still buy a few things from Topshop and H&M but it’s definitely getting more hit and miss which has made me realise my age as they were my main shops in my 20s.

I like Fenwick’s and John Lewis too- some of the brands and rages feel a bit too old for me but when having a browse I quite often find a few bits I like.

I get a few bits from depop too- although not really good for browsing, better if you have something in mind that you’re trying to find

agteacht · 01/05/2020 17:02

Oasis 😢

louderthan · 01/05/2020 22:35

H&M, Primark, Asos, Zara, charity shops, ebay, TK Maxx, New Look, Top Shop.
I'm 39 and my mum who is 75 shops in the same places. Both of us get regular compliments on our style.
I've never understood people saying that certain shops are 'too young'.

Raella50 · 02/05/2020 07:59

Loungewear, basics, jeans and casual: GAP
Work: M&S
Nice tops/ dresses/ skirts: Zara, French Connection, Monsoon
Formal: Reiss
Handbags: Coach
Finding nice shoes is the hardest, I don’t have a “go to” yet.

Raella50 · 02/05/2020 08:04

Oh I do have a few nice things from All Saints too but only leather items

Hippoplatypus · 02/05/2020 08:39

Next, M&S, fatface....I used to shop in H&M and New look but they make me feel old now Sad

I'm another who finds decent shoes hard to get, all we have is Clarks and I'm not ready for that yet!

MsMeNz · 02/05/2020 08:42

37, I'm a fairly minimalist clothes buyer but when I do: m&s, next, and what I'd call camping brands like Weird fish or Animal.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/05/2020 08:45
  1. Asos, H and M, Primark, new look, Marks and Spencer’s for t shirts and jeans..! I don’t really have a particular shop really. I think you can find things in most shops, even the “younger” ones. I think it’s a mistake to avoid shops because people think they’re too young for them.
Bathbedandbeyond · 02/05/2020 08:47

Hasn’t oasis been bought out, so we can still shop there? Blush

BayWindow · 02/05/2020 08:50

Fat face, white stuff and Boden. Also go to H&M, or Primark for basics. Next for jeans. I have t found anything I like in top shop or river island for a few years now. I'm 32.

SneakersandSocks · 02/05/2020 08:55

Mainly Zara, Monki , H&M and ASOS, Uniqlo for basic tees. I shop on Depop too, got a pair of brand new Topshop Mom jeans for £10 ( they are still £40 in store) recently.
