The only brand of trainers that don’t hurt my dodgy foot are Reeboks. If I order the white pair this will be my 5th pair. I clean them but after 6 months - a year they look wrecked so I replace them. I’ve just spotted the leopard print ones which obviously will last longer. Are they grim? I’m nearly 60 and generally wear skinny or more recently, bootcut jeans. The leopard print would be a radical move [shocked] .

The leopard ones are nicer but I don’t think they’ll be as comfortable as the white ones- Reebok classics (the white style) fit very differently to some of the trendier styles.

Dogwithanovenmit · 18/04/2020 20:20

I must say I am wondering if they’ll be as comfortable as the usual soles. If not it will be back to my usual ones.

I’d say leopard because I assume you still have a pair of the white ones lying around, even if they’re not pristine anymore

MikeUniformMike · 18/04/2020 21:23

The leopard ones are by far the nicer of the two.

Ninkanink · 18/04/2020 21:34

Leopard.

Do you use whitener on your trainers? If you don’t, you should.

MikeUniformMike · 18/04/2020 21:54

@Dogwithanovenmit, if you need to wash trainers, do it by hand in tepid water. I killed a pair of reeboks in the washing machine.

Dogwithanovenmit · 18/04/2020 23:33

Nink I use whitener which brings them up nicely for about 6 months. After that they start to look yellowy and get sort of a black/grey graze over the toe area. I’ve also used hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda mixed rubbed in with a toothbrush. That helped but at about the 9 month stage they start to look scruffy and yellowy no matter what I do. I haven’t put them in the machine. I don’t think my machine would cope let alone the trainers.

Yeah it doesn’t last forever. I just thought I’d mention it in case you hadn’t tried it. I think it’s an occupational hazard with white shoes - they’re not going to look great for very long.

I think the leopard ones are very nice! I hope you love them!

Dogwithanovenmit · 19/04/2020 13:32

Thanks Nink I hope the leopard ones are comfy. I really want a change from the white, especially with them needing replacing after such a short time.

Leopard print is actually a very versatile neutral - you can wear them with pretty much everything.

Lizsmum · 09/06/2020 18:14

I'm older than you, fat and not a fashionista. I'd choose the leopard ones. I'm not sure if that helps. Smile

Alsohuman · 09/06/2020 19:29

Late to the party and loving the leopard.

Dizzybet74 · 09/06/2020 21:34

Do it

Anguspie · 09/06/2020 22:02

They are grim but it’s the platform sole that upsets me - go to MandM website loads of great brand trainers super cheap - totally support leopard print footwear and age is no barrier to amazing shoes so essentially if they make you happy, make you smile, make you walk with a spring in your step then f*ck it buy them!!

St3v3 · 10/06/2020 11:06

I am your age and I love the trainers. I would wear them irrespective of age, if I like something I would wear it.

SuckingDieselFella · 10/06/2020 11:46

I have leopard trainers but those ones are too chunky for me.

Mine went 'bald' very quickly! There are bare patches around the heels. How about these?

Leopard! Go for these! You have already had 5 pairs of the white so go for a change. At 60, I think they'll be youthful and fun.

May I ask which leopard ones did you have?
These Boden ones look great, but does anyone know if Bodem trainers are comfy? I love white trainers at the mo 🙂

SuckingDieselFella · 10/06/2020 12:39

I have M&S Autograph ones from a couple of years ago. I don't think full leopard is worth the money because they go bald so quickly. Had my eye on the Boden ones for a while but I haven't had an excuse to buy them yet.
