I’m 43 is this dress too short for me?

It’s just to wear about the house on warm days, maybe school run if we ever get back to school on a hot day if I’m feeling brace enough.
I would wear it with trainers or flat Grecian sandals.
I’m size 10, good legs (well good thighs, my calves are skinny and shapeless)
I have no boobs or waist so this (shapeless) smock type of dress is usually the best style for me.
I would be buying from John Lewis not warehouse itself in case the upcoming administration scuppers orders! Poor warehouse staff
But at 43: is this just too short?! I’m braver than I used to be at eg 33. I give far fewer fucks (just the occasional one)
NarniaBanarnia · 16/04/2020 21:36
Brave not brace ffs!!
Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 16/04/2020 21:38
No it looks great, go for it 👍
WhatTheFuckSusan · 16/04/2020 21:39
I'm not even clicking on the link because no it is definitely not too short!! Your age should not influence your choices
rosiepony · 16/04/2020 21:39
Really lovely.
NarniaBanarnia · 16/04/2020 21:41
Thank you everyone!
Will order and see how it looks on.
I love a black sundress (I’m a Puritan at heart)
nancyjuice7 · 16/04/2020 21:43
I love black smock dresses! Look lovely with tan sandals and tan cross body bag 👍🏼
And no it's not too short! You rock it
Laurie01 · 16/04/2020 21:44
Go for it! You could wear with leggings if you want to cover up, tights and boots in winter, even skinny jeans under. It looks great.
FuckyNel · 16/04/2020 21:45
I thought warehouse had collapsed!
NarniaBanarnia · 16/04/2020 21:45
Oh that’s a great point Laurie I could wear it in autumn too with tights and a chunky cardi; good call
CoronaIsComing · 16/04/2020 21:46
No it’s lovely 😊
AnnUumellemahaye · 16/04/2020 21:49
Unless they are going to water it over leggings that dress is too short for anyone.
No one wants to be treated to flashes of someone’s vag every time they bend over or sit down.
Holothane · 16/04/2020 21:49
I’d wear it with leggings, you go for it. Life’s too short and everyone needs a pick me up.
WickedlyPetite · 16/04/2020 21:51
Tbh - I wouldn't wear that out of the house.
I wear shorts that are shorter than that - but a dress that short, no.
Cecilia2016 · 16/04/2020 21:52
My friend is 45 and she wears a lot of them in different colours.
Blondiney · 16/04/2020 21:53
Not too short at all.
Mlou32 · 16/04/2020 21:55
No, you're only 43 lol. I'll still be wearing short dresses in my 40s, damn right, I have a killer pair of legs 😉
IHaveAMagicBean · 16/04/2020 21:56
Go for it, but be very aware that when DH and I were out for dinner about January, maybe December lady on the next table was wearing a longer dress than this and still managed to flash her multi coloured stripy knickers as she Kent forward, nit even bent, barely leaning, saw her knickers, all scrunched up under her twisted tights.
I bet if you asked her, she’d swear she maintained dignity all evening.
Just saying.
NarniaBanarnia · 16/04/2020 21:59
MagicBean
Tbh it would end up very much an at-home dress; I work from home do barely go out at the best of times! I’d only wear it on the (currently merely fictional) school run on one of those mega-sweaty humid days when people are turning up to collect their kids wearing baggy vests that show chunks of bra and shorts that look like you’ve slept in them (just our school gate, then?)
NarniaBanarnia · 16/04/2020 21:59
Oh and on a beach holiday. If we ever go on holiday ever again.
dontdillydallytoolong · 16/04/2020 22:02
Not at all. If you feel comfortable in it..just wish I had good legs!
tinkerbellla · 16/04/2020 22:05
Love this! Of course you should buy it!
pictish · 16/04/2020 22:07
Lovely dress..simple, stylish, tasteful...but yeah I’m going to say it, very short. Too short for me. If I can’t bend over in it without giving everyone an eyeful, it’s a flat no.
I’d wear it with skinnies though.
seltaeb · 16/04/2020 22:08
Far too short IMO
yukka · 16/04/2020 22:08
I'm 41 and wear dresses like this a lot with flats. My legs are my best body part.. and I wear with dark tights and flat knee length boots in winter, or ankle boots will work too.
Might buy it myself now!
RiftGibbon · 16/04/2020 22:09
It's not my thing but it looks fine length-wise. Your age is immaterial. If you like it, it fits, is comfortable and you can afford it, buy it!
