I love vita liberata mousses. I think the colour looks great on my pale skin. Not the cheapest option but lasts a good week. I've tried loads. I also like the Isle of Patadise tanning drops. Mix them with a bit of moisturiser for a daily dose. They don't smell too bad either.

I found St Tropez very good, also the cheaper ST moritz- although its less colour and lasts shorter time. I put on at night and wash off in am. I didn't get on with the vita liberatis one-too streaky and didn't last.
I think its a bit of trial and error.

I am the colour of white A4 paper and I’ve found all of them too dark. I also find that friends who tan in the summer tell me how pale they are when they’ve not been in the sun and say things like oh I’m quite fair skinned too when they’re really not. What they mean is they don’t have a Mediterranean glow all year round but as soon as they see a bit of sun they get a bit of colour. I also see the same thing over and over in magazines were they test ‘best fake tan for fair skin’ or ‘best make up for fair skinned and it’s never ever someone like me with Irish parents, milk white skin and jet black hair. It’s always someone with fairER skin and fair hair. Where’s my amazing fake tan for actual pale skin? Grin

I've tried Vita Liberata which was good but streakier than I thought it would be.
But the very best I have ever come across is Avène self-tanner (Eau Thermale Avène self-tanner). I apply it with a glove and it comes up very even with a really lovely colour. And the smell is very minimal. It's my favourite ever (and I've tried them all!).

By the way, Avène is really really really great if you have that Celtic complexion.

St tropez every day

It's so easy to apply and you can build it up

I'm the palest person in the world! I find that false fans are too much for my skin, because I'm so pale I tend to go a weird colour.
I use gradual tan (dove or garnier) and it works well for me.

I really like Dove summer glow gradual tan. I have fair freckly skin. It lasts and gives a nice colour, nice and even too if you use a mitt.

I like the St Tropez moisturiser. I tend to put it on twice with a day off in between and then it lasts about four days afterwards.
