Brown shoes - what colour tights?

Could any of those of you in the know tell me whether black opaque tights would look ok with brown shoes? Do you have to match tights to shoe colour? Or not??? THX.

depends on the rest of the outfit... my best tights are greyish.... but perhaps not with brown tights....

No, no you cant. Go for barely black, they are more of a brown colour

Nude would be my suggestion.

Or some brown patterned ones that look like they are crochet iyswim.

Like KC says .. sheer barely black are probably the way to go. But what is the rest of the outfit? A choc-brown fishnet or lace tight can be very nice.

I always wear chocolate brown fishnets with brown shoes. Or, a lovely sheerish nude shiny tight I get from Primark. Depends what else you're wearing, but I wouldn't have thought black opaques.

depends a lot on the shoes and outfit. black would be very difficult to carry off. if you were supremely confident and trendy and they were very opaque I reckon you could do it. but as you are asking I am thinking not. nude for smart/workey/posh dinner type outfits. brown patterned or wooley for girl about town trnedy-ness

It's to go with smart casual brown skirts - mid length ones - the shoes I've bought are a brown flat pump. Would black opaque tights look weird? (panic now setting in that I'm making lots of fashion faux pas....)

I wouldn't wear black tights of any description with brown shoes. Nude tights if you are wearing flat shoes.

If a flat pump, would go for a patterned/fishnet tight.

brown tights with brown shoes much more flattering on the legs. I don't like fishnets on me but they suit some people. I think.

and STEP AWAY from barely black tights. Make me look like my gran.

Would go for choc brown opaque or patterned.

you can wear black thus if shoes are tan, but probably not if they are dark brown.
Both choc and nude fishnets good investment.
