Is skinny tan the best fake tan?

People have recommended Skinny tan lots to me recently but I’ve read quite a few bad reviews. Past couple years I’ve used Bondi Sands. I just don’t know what to go for?

Anyone?

When I use it I use Bondi and really like it. More than Elemis and more than a L’Oreal product I’ve used previously.

I have no experience of Skinny—is that part of Bethany Frankel’s health and beauty line?

When it comes to reviews I typically look for the best and the worst and also pay more attention when reviewers provide detail about the product in comparison to other products, but also how they’ve used the product being reviewed.

I do not think skinny tan is at all good. Would not recommend it. Sienna x works well for me. Without it I look like a vampire.

nicelyneurotic · 06/04/2020 11:03

Skinny tan was no good for me. Streaky, orange and dodnt last. I tried to mousse, lotion and the gradual versions - all dreadful

bigmamama · 06/04/2020 11:07

Skinny tan was ok for me iv got quite a few products In their range.
I use rose and caramel the nudity then apply intensity over it just on Arms and legs as they don't tan well. It's really good would totally recommend

Bondi sands I find really natural looking and smells lovely. Never tried the skinny tan.

TeddyIsaHe · 06/04/2020 11:10

I love skinny tan! Put the foam on with a mitt and I’ve never had streaks or orange. I also really rate their instant tan when I haven’t got time to wait for it to dry.

AvoidingRealHumans · 06/04/2020 11:11

I got some skinny tan but used it once and then went back to good old St Moritz.

RiojaHaze · 06/04/2020 11:38

Skinny tan is awful in my opinion. Agree with the PPs, Bondi Sands is great as a cheaper alternative to St Tropez.

flossletsfloss · 06/04/2020 11:46

Vita liberata is the best tan I've ever used.

Vita liberata is the best tan I've ever used.

Tinks15 · 06/04/2020 11:53

Has anyone used Bondi Sands ultra dark? Wondering if it’s that much different to the normal dark one?

Bondi sands
Vita liberata
St tropez
As a last resort, skinny tan. Streaky & comes off patchy. Their with-tan-suncream is quite good though for first few days of a holiday as it gives you some colour as well as SPF. Not that you'll be going on holiday anytime soon but hey Grin

Skinny Tan is very hit and miss. Sometimes it looks gorgeous and other times it looks muddy and murky.

I've got different favourites for different uses Grin

Bondi Sands Liquid Gold (foam and oil) are fantastic gradual tans. Smell amazing, don't stain sheets and one application usually leaves a nice glow. Foam has a guide colour, oil doesn't.

St Tropez Self Tan Express is excellent and gives a deep colour in 4 hours.

Sienna X Express Q10 Mousse is another excellent tan. Again, in 4 hours you get a deep colour. It's guide colour is quite light too and it dries v. quickly; you can put it on in the morning and go about your day without looking ridiculous.

minetan Super Dark (Violet base) is the one I use for a vvvvvv deep colour in the summer. It's not at all orange, dries quickly, doesn't smell and doesn't stain.
Again, it's an express tan so you get a colour in a few hours but I sleep in it and wake up with a months worth of Australia sun tan.

He-Shi One Hour Liquid Tan is all fantastic for a really nice natural glow; or a deep golden tan. Depending on what you want.

GotTheCityOnLockdown · 06/04/2020 12:01

@Tinks15 The ultra dark is v. dark on application.

I find that if it's used on top of clean, pale skin (I'm ghostly without tan!) it can start to look muddy/green when washed off.

If you're really pale I recommend using a gradual tan for a night or so before using an ultra dark. It gives you a little bit of a tint so, when the ultra dark is applied over the top, it looks brown, not muddy.

RainWoman19 · 06/04/2020 12:02

Ultra dark is not too dark imo, although i prefer dark as you can layer it to your desired shade. Never tried skinny tan, I went from St Moritz to Bondi Sands and its great! Smells of coconuts too x

RainWoman19 · 06/04/2020 12:02

Also, Liquid Gold is a no from me! Its transulecent when it goes on and streaky when it develops.

evilharpy · 06/04/2020 12:04

Skinny works very well for me, not streaky at all.

GotTheCityOnLockdown · 06/04/2020 12:05

@RainWoman19 You do need to be very careful with the Liquid Gold because of the (oils) lack of guide colour.
The mousse has a guide colour in it.

But if applied liberally with a mitt and left to dry it's ideal as a base coat before going in with a darker tan.

Again, I'm coming at this from the point of view of a translucent person. My skin is extremely pale.

Tinks15 · 06/04/2020 13:18

So I’m not overly pale, last year with Bondi Sands I got the dark one I never used to layer it though maybe I should try that first instead of going for the ultra dark.

Never heard of Vita Liberata going to look at this.

Bondi sands is best for me

desperatehousewife2 · 07/04/2020 08:48

I would say use anything except skinny tan. I’ve used fake tan for years and found skinny tan by far the hardest to apply and the only one I’ve
Found somewhat streaky. So basically, use anything else!

SinglePringle · 07/04/2020 09:15

Isle of Paradise drops in medium for me. Lovely colour, adjustable and fades really well.

Glitterb · 07/04/2020 09:18

Skinny tan always goes green on me, no idea why and the bottles leak and stain everything!

Utan is brilliant if you can get to a superdrug, this is the one that always seems to go on excellent and goes a nice natural colour
