hi ladies,
Anyone had an eyelash tint and/or perm? Is it sore? How long does it last? Would you recommend it? cheers

i had a perm once and it didn't really do anything, but then i have dead straight lashes. have bought a home tinting kit but not gotten round to using it yet.

I have had tinting done in a salon and no it doesn't hurt - just a bit of stinging. I now do it myself - loads cheaper and all done within 15 minutes. As far as I can see, the results are the same. I bought a kit from Boots for a few quid. Make sure you put vaseline around your eyes first though, as this will protect them.

I've had mine tinted.
Doesnt hurt but makes your eyes water a little bit.

I really liked it. No need for mascara.

bigspender30 · 12/09/2007 13:24

good for holidays then. Did you get tint and perm done or just tint?

I did mine at home the other week (tint, not perm). don't know why I did it since I've got quite dark eyelashes anyway. I think it was just pregnancy hormones getting the better of me. Anyway, it didn't hurt but it was a bit of a faff and the results weren't noticeable enough for me to want to do it again. I reckon it would be good if you've got fair lashes though.

I get mine done from time to time at the salon at my gym. It costs about £10 to £15 and takes half an hour. It might sting a little bit but not too bad. It lasts about a month. I usually get them done prior to going on holiday so that I can go bare-faced in the daytime without frightening the locals

bigspender30 · 12/09/2007 15:49

i am fair so think it would be worth the money!

i'm very fair so i get mine done, costs less than £10 and lasts about 6 weeks, which I figure isn't far off the cost of mascara for the same amount of time!

I love it and have been going for almost 5 years now

I do mine all the time at home, get a kit out of salon services or somewhere similar, much cheaper and lasts for ages.
I did do a course for it though (was planning a different career).
It is fairly straightforward if you know the basics.

I've dyed mine every 6 weeks for about 20 years. I'm very fair in the lash dept and used to do my own, but now go every 6 weeks to a salon as I never quite found a spare 10 minutes when ds was younger and the habit of going has stayed.

You used to be able to get a kit called dyelash from boots and it had about 10 go's in there.

I used to wash my eyes beforehand with a bar of palmolive (or similar) and water to get every trace of make up and grease off, otherwise it won't work well. Then smear vaseline around the skin around your eyes top and bottom incase it blobs on your skin as it will stain it. Apply the mixture like mascara with a little plastic stick applicator, lie down for 10 mins then wash off using soap and water. Perfect!

sounds good! Going to book myself in to the salon for the first time and see if I have any reaction to it then all being well I can try it myself for next time.
