what are stylist BFing mums wearing this winter? Don't want to look a frump..

Hello,
I'll be having a baby next week, so will be breastfeeding it over winter. I was wondering what you would all suggest I get to be able to feed discretely - last years ponchos would have been ideal, but i never bought one.. Any ideas, other than a scarf?

I would be interested too, not just for feeding discretely but to stop me freezing my nips off!

There's a lovely poncho in the natural collection website here. I'm due in 4 weeks so maybe I should be thinking about this kind of thing too...

the 'swing' jackets thus around at the moment are probably roomy enough to button over a feeding baby - Primark have a good selection atm, also one two in Topshop, some in M&s too

...but I meant to say, this winter I will mostly be finding places indoors to feed!

Agree with the indoor feeding, and already have a super cape thing should I feel like feeding in the great outdoors. My problem is I am craving a knitted dress this winter. I am bf a (currently) 3 month old who throws up all over me with monotonous regularity. It's hopeless isn't it?

I love dresses. I am utterly of all the dresses for this autumn.

does the super cape thing mean you can fly?

I have Dress Envy too - just when my norks have inflated sufficiently to make me an hourglass not a pear and I can't wear any of them...

though I did wonder if one could cut slits under the tie bit of this one or similar...

hmmmm, i reckon with one of those BF vest things you could get away with that just push it down and unclip the vest bit. I think they have holes in an underneath layer rather than the whole nork out iyswim.

I have done the shirt dress with a camisole underneath. I have been wondering about some of the plunge v necks with a camisole too. Just worry about it going out of shape.

I'm plannign to wear all my pre-pregnancy wrap dresses again this autumn/winter with a stretchy vest top underneath. You can BF from ypour left boob by lifting the vest top up underneath. To feed from your right boob, the wrap needs to be knotted a bit more loosely but tightly enough to stay wrapped around, IYSWIM.

Or a stretchy low v necked dress with a vest top underneath?

Or a short dress worn tunic style over trousers so you just lift it up like a top?

If you don't mind paying a bit more theres a great american co. that does REALLY discrete bf tops. Motherwear. They're not particularly pricey but I then had to pay VAT on them as an import. Maybe you could get round this by ordering them to someone you know in USA and get them to post them on.
I got three tops and wore them alternating for over a year with one bf shirt from Boots!!
They have double fronts so the under one has slits and an identical layer on top covers you. You stick your boob (pardon the expression) through the slit and tummy is well covered. Perfect for those first post-baby days!!!!
They don't even look like nursing clothes...maybe they should be paying me for this advert!!!!

Try some nursing vests under your wrap dresses or blouses. Emma-Jane do a bamboo one - as in bamboo cotton - which is meant to be eco friendly - look here

The other tip is to use your bump band around your waist - so when you hike up your top your waist isn't exposed.
