I don't do dresses, am wondering whether i'll look hideously out of place in smart trousers or will i have to bite the bullet and wear a dress?

if so, can anyone suggest a nice dress for a 5'6" dark haired, slightly gothy laydeee with more than a little bit of baby tummy on her?

I didn't go last year (last minute finacial crisis) but I went the year before and wore black trousers, DMs and a fancy top. Didn't notice anyone shunning me more than usual, and iirc a fair few others wore trousers Wear what you feel comfortable in, or you'll feel selfconscious all evening.
