What ingredients should I be looking for in skin care of blemishes etc?

Looking to change or add in some additional bits to my skin care regime.

What should I be looking for to help adult acne? I get a few break outs every now and then and black heads around my chin/nose. My skin is combination/oily with some redness but can get dried out if I use the wrong thing. Oh and I’m 35 if that helps!

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Salicylic Acid for breakouts, Niacinamide for reducing redness and Hyaluronic Acid for hydration and helping to repaid the skin barrier.

Definitely recommend Paulas Choice - the Salicylic Acid 2% Liquid as a toner 2- 3 times a week and their boosters - Niacinamide 10% and Hyaluronic Acid can be used daily before moisturiser.

Also, Cerave Hydrating Cleanser is really gentle on the skin and will also help the skin barrier with the ceramides.

You can message The Ordinary with details and pictures of your skin and they will send you a suggested regime based on your particular issues. The products are fantastic and are not too expensive compared to other brands. The suggested regime advice is provided free of charge so it's worth a go!
