If you’re 40+ what casual clothes do you wear?

I’m in such a rut. I pretty much always wear jeans and a nice jumper. I’d love a bit of a change but don’t know where to begin. I’m tall and pretty slim. Help!

Unless someone chooses to wear a skirt up to her bum, l think most clothes are pretty ageless.

In winter it’s very much jeans and a top or maybe on warmer days leggings or a thick skirt (maybe denim).

In the summer, l love dresses!

Today I’m wearing black slim cut, high waisted jeans, black crew neck fitted t-shirt and a chunky cream cable knit/cricket type cardigan. I’m average height and a 10/12.

I’m not arsed about fashion trends though, so probably the wrong person to ask/give advice.

On my way to work, Friday casual. I'm wearing a black mini, black opaque tights, light grey crew neck jumper, black Nikes plus jewellery.
It's my standard casual look - I like my legs better in tights and trainers than jeans somehow.

Dresses all year round for me.
In the cooler weather with long sleeves . A slip. Opaque tights , black or red with DMs. Maybe a long cardigan.
Jeans look awful on me.

What about a pinafore dress or dungarees for a change? Or are they about to go out of fashion?
I don't wear jeans at all as I don't find them comfortable - my current favourite outfit is soft grey cord skater trousers from UO with a burnt orange wool jumper from Finisterre.

That or longline oatmeal skinny hoodie (also Finisterre but about 7 years old) with stripey leggings & fake sheepskin gilet but the latter definitely doesn't win any fashion prizes!

Ohhh I have recently found a great Instagram influencer for 40+ style.
Pia Grace, she's brilliant for giving me inspiration for everyday casual wear!
I've even found new brands I love through her lovely posts
Mistral is one that I had never heard of before and they have some love casual everyday clothing options, really lovely and colourful.
Even have free postage at the mo which I will definitely be taking advantage off...
Not sure if that's helpful at all Grin

I decided last October to ditch jeans.( I'm menopausal and was to hot and itchy)
I'm 47 and now wear, dresses with boots or trainers.
Wide leg trousers with slouchy tips.
Biker jacket or mac
That's it!

I'm 60 but I ditched jeans in my early 30s (boring and uncomfortable) and it's been dresses all the way, casual, dressy, cotton , wool, 40s style tea dresses, 50s style circle dresses, 60s style shift dresses. From brands like Hobbs, Cos, Laura Ashley, Kath Kidston, Palava, Monsoon, Samantha Sung,Lilith, Jackpot to very high end made to order numbers.
