Where do you buy work suits from?

just wondering

found one nice one at M&S but wasn't overwhelmed at their selection (didn't have much left in my size)

also complicated by the fact that I need trousers in short length (or petite) in size 12 but need the jacket to be full size because my back is longer so probably a size 14.

I didn't know they did suits. Do they do short legged trousers?

Unfortunately don't work, but would Zara be worth a look?

foxinsocks · 07/09/2007 10:10

thanks

I have lots of shops nearby but a very low tolerance of shopping .

I want a military style outing with a Plan and the shortest possible time in the shops .

Do you really have to wear a suit - I think they are frumpy and stopped wearing them to work 5 years ago!

foxinsocks · 07/09/2007 12:57

yes, I do really. I don't mind them but like them simple and not fussy.

There are so few options, aren't there, now that most people don't have to wear them to work?

I have got my last couple from Next. Ok, I know not marvellously long wearing, but pretty cheap and come in leg lengths (I am tall, so have opposite problem to you).

Jigsaw is a pricey option, but you'd probably need the trousers altered.

I would welcome ideas from any MNers out there too!

foxinsocks · 07/09/2007 14:11

aah Next, I hadn't thought of them!

Marella make nice plain suits - you can get them in various dept stores. I always have to hem trousers so don't let it stop you!

In my dreams, Armani
IRL, M&S/Kaliko at John Lewis

Pollyanna · 07/09/2007 17:08

I get my work clothes from Jigsaw, French Connection and Zara. Try Great Plains too, although I'm not sure if they have suits.

I don't really like Next generally, but I did get a linen suit from there for the summer.

thanks everyone

Planet and Austin Reed although went off the latter. When I got my first job in the city i splurged out on a lovely Ted baker suit which i wore loads and looked fantastic and lasted for ages.

Now work from home and wear jeans...I miss my suit days.

flowerybeanbag · 07/09/2007 19:14

Depending on your budget, Hobbs?

Tinker · 07/09/2007 19:17

Great Plains do suits. Difficult to tell though as on different pages in catalogue. Just jacket and skirts/trousers with same name

missbumpy · 07/09/2007 19:37

I know it's not the For Sale thread but I've got a lovely size 12 (with a fairly generous jacket) Nicole Farhi trouser suit I've been meaning to sell on ebay for ages. Shall I let you know when I get round to taking a pic and putting it on there?

Sorry, a bit cheeky, I know

Hideehi · 07/09/2007 19:38

What colour i the suit, i need some size 12 clothes ?

missbumpy · 07/09/2007 19:42

A nice dark chocolate brown.

Sorry, probably shouldn't have hijacked thread with this. Especially since I haven't got any pics yet and don't know what price I'm planning to ask for !
