First visit to a hairdresser for years - what to ask for?

I've been cutting my hair for several years now, because it's curly and I'm never happy with curly cuts in salons (I'm also not fondnof the whole salon experience). I've decided to start wearing it a bit straighter so I need to go back to a hairdresser.

I'm weirdly nervous! I just want something fairly straightforward, with as much weight taken out of it as possible as it's huge; is that enough to say to them or do I need to be more specific, find a photo I like or something? I'm having memories of disappointing cuts, hoping to avoid that.

If you can find a photo that will be very helpful for the hairdresser

Find a specialist who knows how to cut curly hair. Curly hair should always be cut dry, never wet. I have found that the "best" salons for me are the ones geared towards AfroCarribbean women and their hair
