Am I nuts?

I have a (dark blue) Kensington that’s one of the most worn dresses in my wardrobe so I know the style works.

But the colour is NOT what I usually wear!!!

I’m Hoping it’s quite a coral red... still never a colour I usually wear tho...

I’m just so over this miserable winter and I’m dreaming of summer days...

I’m very pale though (though certain bright colours do really work on me, I just don’t really buy them as I’m cowardly!) and I’m not going to look like the lovely dark or olive skinned Hush models... will I look pasty and ridiculous though???

Sigh. Probably a bad idea. I just haven’t bought anything new for months and the look of the dress really cheered me up.

Not a bad idea at all OP, have hope Grin it might be great- if not return and try again!

I'm pale and also find bright colours often suit me, certainly far more than pastels which look a disaster. Pop a red lip on with something like that and it will be great. My only reservation would be buying short sleeves at this time of year and how to layer it to make it a useful wardrobe addition- but since you have the dress already and wear it often, it seems a sensible buy?

That is gorgeous. It's the time of year brings out the love of bright colours. You can layer it with tights, boots, polo neck jumper underneath or chunky jumper on top (in grey or navy!).

Bella2020 · 03/03/2020 15:41

I love both the colour and the style of the dress, OP! Be bold and give it a go. It'll certainly chase away the winter blues. I don't think it'll wash you out. I'm pale, too, and red works for me.
Let us know how it goes!

ReginaGeorgeous · 03/03/2020 15:42

I really like the colour OP, I’m pale too and bright colours stop me looking washed out.

Chewbecca · 03/03/2020 15:44

I really like that dress! & think it would suit people with different colouring.

NarniaBanarnia · 03/03/2020 15:46

Oh I’m so glad to hear you think I might be able to pull it off!

I wholeheartedly agree about pastels, bacon, I always think they ‘should’ work but I feel
And look dreadful in them. I’m only just realising in my 40s that a bright coral shade or an emerald green is way better on me than a pale pink or a mint. Similarly sapphire blue is better than baby blue. Glad it’s not just me!

I’m wimpishly only planning on wearing it when the spring comes but if I feel I can pull it off with a sweater sooner maybe I will...

Huge thanks for the confidence boost!

I love it! I would only consider wearing red problematic if you suffered from red skin

NarniaBanarnia · 03/03/2020 18:10

Universal acclaim! I’m thrilled Smile If I’m brave enough I will post a pic of me in it...

So pretty - cheers me up on a soggy day just looking at it ! Xx

lindyloo57 · 12/03/2020 17:53

Its lovely, I like you think bright colour are great, I find the pale colours wash me out too, I do wear a lot of black, which if I follow the rules of my colouring I shouldn't wear, but feel it suits me.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 12/03/2020 18:01

That is gorgeous.

I love red and this dress looks like it could be worn anywhere.

I love dresses that can go from work, to drinks with friends to school parents night meetings to dinner out without you ever feeling over or under dressed.

Great choice op, let’s hope it’s the first of many cheery new outfits.

Smellslikebiscuits · 12/03/2020 20:35

I have the blue, and it gets so many compliments. Can’t wait to order this one too!

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/03/2020 20:42

That is gorgeous, defo a great choice! And I am sure you will look fab in it. Defo post a pic!

StarlightLady · 13/03/2020 10:22

It’s lovely! Welcome to full colour.

You have been let out from the confines of darks on parole.

Now show the world what colour really is. Be bright, be happy, stand out in the crowd and be on fire!

AnyFucker · 13/03/2020 10:24

Lovely dress. Be bold !

Floisme · 13/03/2020 10:30

It's very pretty. I have yet again slipped into wearing grey most of the winter and I'm bored senseless. Neither pastels nor very brights work for me but deep colours do. (I'm pale.) Hope it's right for you.

BeaLola · 13/03/2020 17:55

I love it. Just envious that the largest size is a 16 and Im way larger otherwise I would buy it in every colourway possible !

Pajamagirl · 13/03/2020 20:14

Really lovely
Go for it !
