Winter flowers for my bouquet (should this be in style??)

Im hoping to have a few deep red roses, some holly and berries, but need something to bulk it all out - can't do 'all roses' to expensive!

I have no idea about flowers!

cod is right though - you will remember the roses and the holly and not much else.

Mine had [racks brain] roses and... er... scented stock, but I haven't a clue what else.

Put things like winter bouquet, red bouquet etc into google images for ideas as well.

mistletoe is even more expensive than roses
ivy? pine cones?
here is mine - admittedly it was Aug but I just asked for the roses and cream/white seasonal flowers.

i remember mine, it ws one fo the things i liked best about my day

i had
sweetpea, pink roses and hyacinths
all had meanigns for me and i love them too

hyacinths werent in season, but the florist managed to get them for me

If a patient is in acute renal failure would you expect them to be in a metabolic acidosis or alkalosis and why. I have a crit care exam on weds anc am finding this whole acid/base balance stuff hard work.

I think its an acidosis but not sure why.

acid base balance is a bastard (excuse the language!)
ARF pts would be in metabolic acidosis, basically because the tubules fail to secrete hydrogen into the urine, and the acid increases.

is that too basic?

Thanks so much! Prob v.simple for you but but its so hard to get your head around isn't it? You are ICU trained aren't you, does it start to make sense after a while? Canot get my head around the bicard readings from ABGs either.

I figured it was something to do with things not being excreted but wasn't sure, its been irritating me for ages. Cheers x

i work in Renal mainly.

i still have to read up on loads of ABG's, urea and electrolyte and acid base/bicarb stuff all the time smurf

it makes sense at the time, then you dont come across it for ages, then when you get another case of ARF you have toread about ti all over again to refresh

Thanks again, have done some shifts on renal on the bank as an aux and i enjoy it, would love to do ICU but have no hope of an ICU job so am going to try and end up somewhere that does HDU type care.
Hopefully there will not be much on acid/base balance on exam.

Qualify next September! So excited!
So far have loved - medical wards, CMU, PACU (recovery). Am not into orthopedics or general surgery. Seem to be better at intensively nursing more unwell patients and really enjoy pts with a lot going on.

Dream job would be in a specialist ICU but my trust only has GICU, cardiothoraic ICU and neuro ICU. GICU - no hope, have not had a placement there and the people who have had placements are incredible. One of the renal wards has a 4 bedder 'hdu' which might be interesting.
