Burying of ashes, what to wear?

I have never been to one of these before. Do I need to dress as I would for a funeral? More casual? Dark colours?

Afterwards there is a family gathering at a local pub/restaurant.

When we interred my parents ashes, I wore a lovely red dress as it was my Mums fave colour. We were also going to dinner after .

Is that it possible to ask ?
I have never been to one either, but I would probably wear something sober in a dark colour, unless directed otherwise.

I'll dig out out something smart but not funeraly I think. Bit of a challenge right now as half of my clothes are packed up ready for moving. I've only kept jeans, jumpers and other casual stuff to hand.

Although the main reason for the day is to inter the ashes, it's been stressed that it's also for a family get together that's not exactly a funeral.

I wore a green jacket, green top and navy skirt when we put my dad's ashes in my grandmother's grave. I think it is kind of weather dependnet too. Dark green suited my dad and I suit it too IYSWIM. Black isn't necessary.

When we buried DH grandma's ashes we all wore something colourful - not deliberately bright - but not black, we felt like the funeral was 'goodbye' and the burying of ashes was more reminiscing and celebrating her life. I wore a soft pastel coloured shirt dress (it was summer).

I like the Idea of it being more of a celebration of their life. If it was summer I'd have a choice of what to wear but I don't really have any smart clothes for winter. I hate winter so its just jeans, jumpers and boots for me at the moment, mainly grey and black. I'll have to unpack the stuff I've got ready for the move and see if I can cobble something together.
