Please help me find a fabulous grey autumn day dress

Specifications:

  • Must be plain
  • Nice fabric, pref wool
  • Fitted, perhaps - but not necessarily -with a pencil skirt.
  • Size 10 but fit over my GG norks
  • Smart enough for the office but just ever so slightly sexy

Have looked blardy everywhere, to no avail...

Not quite..

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:07

Hi Jackie. Nice. But aren't wrap dresses a bit, erm... passe?

Great mask on your recommendation BTW, arrived today!

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:09

Please tell me I'm wrong, because I really like my wrap dresses... just not sure if I shoud be buying any more

JackieNo · 03/09/2007 23:09

NOt sure whether they're passe or not - I'd say, if it's flattering, wear it, but I accept it doesn't really meet all your criteria.

Glad the mask site lived up to the pics - I haven't seen them in rl, but they looked great.

If it wasn't for the norkage, there are dresses like this around, which I love, but really wouldn't work, I don't think. And the price of that particular one is rather .

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:14

No, you're quite right, tis a vey flatterng shape. Just wish I could afford a Diane Von Furstenburg

Mmm - would be lovely. I like that one Cod linked to too. Maybe MrsBadger will be along - she's good at this.

LaCod · 03/09/2007 23:16

I AM THINKIGNT OF TRYING THAT ONE oops wiht bright tights

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:18

Ah Jackie, wouldn't let me see the link sadly.

Like that one Cod. They've just refitted my local M & S so I can't find anything. Might persevere & have a try of that one though. I bumped into some suprisingly nice knitwear when I was looking for a sandwich the other day

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:20

I like the way you're thinking Cod. Purple tights? Perhaps with my lovely olive green wedges?

OP posts:
JackieNo · 03/09/2007 23:21

It was this sort of shape but in 2 tones of grey flannel. Not a good neckline for norks, though.

LaCod · 03/09/2007 23:22

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/09/2007 23:36

Jackie's link = gorge. Just the kind of thing I fancy. But as you say wrong neckline for the more bustular, sadly.

Great Plains one is nice too. You girls are good

Thank you

Love this knit dress from Boden. I am thinking about it myself.

www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Women&styid=WH082&segid=6&gpname=Dresses&desname=Knitted+Ribbed+Dres s&gpid=6&gen=

It has a great neckline and since it is knit, it has a bit of stretch. I really love it. There is also a colourblock version.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 04/09/2007 10:29

I was looking at the Boden one earlier - lovely, but 8 weeks wait! I want instant gratification

I read this thread earlier and then received through the post my kew catalogue, which has several nice dresses in which might meet your requirements.
On reading it I thought, hmm, one of these might be nice for Septimus. However going to the website, none of them are on there to link for you!

You'll have to take my word for it!

MrsBadger · 04/09/2007 13:07

drool

MrsBadger · 04/09/2007 14:20

Thanks everyone, you are sartorial geniuses
