What do people wear on nights out now?

DP and I are off for a night out on Saturday and I've no idea what to wear.

I'm 5ft 1 and just under 7 stone - no breasts (32b, but saggy from BFing and east west shape - can get a decent push up bra!) but an in proportion bum.

I feel as though 'jeans and a nice top' is my normal pub attire with some heels, but I don't know if that's too casual?

Haven't been out properly (only to pubs) for about 10 years and it's making me a bit nervous.

Any ideas, any budget, any style. Just please help me. Outfit , shoes, accessories - I am out of my comfort zone!
All suggestions welcome, I'll even come back and post on Saturday so you can see your hard work come together Grin

Thank you!

Where are you going? Dinner? Club? Bar? Are you in a big city or a bit of a backwater?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/02/2020 21:56

What’s your usual style, and per pp, what sort of night out? It’s absolutely freezing here, so based on what’s in my wardrobe I would wear something along the lines of:

Leather mini skirt in deep green, fitted top (maybe a fine-knit slightly sparkly polo neck I have), opaque tights. Skirt and jumper both from Whistles.

Midi-dress - I have loads of these, but would probably go for either a black and white polka dot one from Warehouse or a leopard print H&M number, based on current faves.

I’d wear a faux fur coat with the skirt, a shorter faux fur jacket with the dress. Ankle boots, or my Veja trainers. Red lipstick, good perfume, done.

(I am not a very “smart” person though, and don’t even own heels for example.)

PickleMyPepper · 12/02/2020 22:03

It's a big city known for partying and clubs. It is absolutely freezing here at the minute too.

I think we're doing a mix of bars - no clubs, I haven't got the strength.

My usual style is dependent really;
Jeans, knitwear or T-shirts with nice trainers

Yoga pants on a busy day to day

Going out (pub) it would be jeans with a nice top and some heeled boots or mid heel pumps.

I love my leather jacket, black denim jacket and faux fur coat for best.

I do like the idea of a midi dress, with maybe the leather jacket over it and some nice heels to glam up.

Is it Newcastle by any chance? If it is and you are going to the Bigg Market, a plunging sleeveless top, a wide belt and very high heels will suffice. No underwear, tights, coat or skirt required. You will be required to drink yourself into a state and fall over on the cobbles as you queue for a kebab.

lmnoh · 12/02/2020 22:12

@LuluJakey1 😂

Camopetals · 12/02/2020 22:15

Just swinging by to say there's no way you're a 32b with those stats.. You need to look up the Boob or Bust method! If you're 7st at 5ft1 it's likely you're 28 back if not smaller, and need to go up a few cup sizes.

I know this isn't what you asked but you will thank me for it!

notacooldad · 12/02/2020 22:17

Have a look on Silk Fred for ' gong out - out' dresses and jumps suits from That's where I get my going out stuff from.

MadamePewter · 12/02/2020 22:21

Leather or leather look trousers. Off shoulder oversize top. Heels

PickleMyPepper · 12/02/2020 23:19

Not Newcastle @LuluJakey1 (thankfully by the sounds of it!)

@Camopetals oh really? My bra fits quite comfortably! I'll have to look into that, thank you.

I've had a look at some bodysuits which look nice, paired with jeans, heels, leather jacket and some jewellery.
How does that sound?

That sounds lovely op, i hope that you have a fab night WineGin

NameChange84 · 13/02/2020 08:17

Yes, all my friends at the moment are going with bodysuits teamed with jeans or black trousers and leather jackets for nights out at the moment. Good choice!

PickleMyPepper · 13/02/2020 11:43

Thank you both.

I've gone for a black, long-sleeved body suit, some wide leg trousers with a bit of sparkle in them and heels.

Real new outfit choice for me, I'm bricking it! I need to step out of my comfort zone, but didn't realise clothes could be this scary!

PickleMyPepper · 13/02/2020 11:53

How does that sound? Any tips on how to not look like I'm wearing a bag?

notacooldad · 13/02/2020 17:01

You will look fine.
How are you doing your hair and makeup?

notacooldad · 13/02/2020 17:02

I meant to say the outfit sounds really nice!
I was talking to someone else when I was typing and typed 'fine' as I said it!!

PickleMyPepper · 13/02/2020 17:35

Haha, thanks @notacooldad

I'm having my hair highlighted tomorrow and she's going to pin it for me, so it'll be a bouncy blow dry.
Make - Up is something I'm confident in. Dewy skin, contour, baking, shadow to match the sparkle in the trousers, natural false lashes and a natural, glossy lip colour.

Accessories; a silver layered necklace and large diamond studs.

Feel confident now.

You will look amazing.
Have a great night!

whitershadeofpale · 13/02/2020 18:17

I’m guessing Liverpool? In that case I’d say your outfit sounds great. Defiantly lots of effort made but I feel that there’s less of a uniform there than there used to be. Lots of variety on night’s out.

emma6776 · 13/02/2020 21:08

I’d definitely second the person who said get your bra size measured! I’m 3 stone heavier than you and only wear a 30! I wore 38D for years (thanks M&S) and finally got measured properly. Wear a 30FF now and look about a zillion stone slimmer!

happyjack12 · 13/02/2020 21:39

remember the photos! Have a lovely time :)

mytypeonpaper · 13/02/2020 21:45

Sounds great! Have a fun night! Don't forget to show us a pic 🤣
