Best Dry Shampoo??

Teacaketotty · 29/01/2020 14:07

Okay I am actively trying not to wash my hair so much (post-partum hair loss!), therefore what is the best dry shampoo?

I need something to sort this grease out without leaving the horrible residue some of them have.

Another vote for Klorane. Smile

I also really like Moroccanoil's dry shampoo.

I tried Ouai and it was awful!! Expensive and useless. It made my hair look worse!

RogueV · 29/01/2020 21:54

Tried loads

Batiste is the best and very good value

TitchyP · 29/01/2020 22:14

Lidl is much better than Batiste but I want to try Klorane now.

GinandGingerBeer · 29/01/2020 22:24

Living proof is the best I've ever tried but it's about £16 a tin. Leaves your hair feeling like it's been washed though.
I use various different ones.
Colab on the day I wash it for a bit of volume and body
Batiste day 2
Living proof day 3. I have long hair and if i use dry shampoo on the day i wash it I can go 3/4 days between shampooing.

I'll investigate klorane........

GinandGingerBeer · 29/01/2020 22:36

Lookfantastic have 20% off if anyone was wanting to try Klorane. LF20

TantricTwist · 29/01/2020 22:54

Batiste is what I'll always be buying but I'm impressed with Living proof although not paying ££ for what is essentially talc in a spray but it is very very good.

WellTidy · 29/01/2020 22:58

Batiste is super good valuable for money. I like them all except the one for brunette hair as that makes my scalp itchy and when I then scratch it, I get the brown powder all under my nails.

Teacaketotty · 30/01/2020 08:16

Thanks all for your input - Batiste was my go to for years but I've recently dyed my hair darker and the white residue really bothers me plus i think it gives it a horrible texture for me, but can be good for volume. I've bought a Co-lab one yesterday (half price from boots) and used that this morning - pretty impressed though I'm only on day 2 hair.

I've never tried putting it on at night so will give that a go too!

I think i will work my way round them all eventually!

I’m going to have to try that co-lab one now that you’ve said it’s half price in boots and that it’s good!

VideographybyLouBloom · 30/01/2020 09:13

I've tried loads - expensive to cheap and I always go back to Batiste. I really do find it the best. I like the Blush scent.

goodgodingovan · 30/01/2020 09:39

Washing your hair less won't make a difference to the post partum loss, it's hormonal.

I love batiste though. Maybe they do a dark one?
The best way to use it I've found is to spray it really liberally all over your roots before you go to bed. It then works it's way into your hair overnight.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 30/01/2020 10:09

Cornflour, I kid you not. Probably ten years ago I read the ingredients on a pot of dry shampoo I was thinking of buying in Boots and read the first ingredient was Zea mays starch and I thought no way am I handing over money for that when I already have it in a kitchen cupboard (albeit minus the stinky perfume and other additives).

Then a few minutes on google revealed that making your own dry shampoo out of cornflour is a thing (mostly amongst crusty/crunchy people - technically I am one of them now Grin) and I have never looked back.

Danglingmod · 30/01/2020 19:06

Another vote for the Schwarzkopf one mentioned by a pp. It's more like a hairspray, so no powder feel and doesn't give you a headache like Batiste.

I've also recently had a Bumble & Bumble one free with an Estee Lauder order and it's brilliant. Really amazing, no horrible stink, no powder, works effectively. It's probably really expensive though (daren't check).

Danglingmod · 30/01/2020 19:08

Bloody hell, I was right : £24 for 150ml!!!! No wonder it's so good Shock

Danglingmod · 30/01/2020 19:14

If anyone want some Snashbox primer, Clinique Take The Day Off, EL mascara, Bobby Brown lippy, the Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo AND some other bits, this set is still available for only £25...

Good value and free postage.

Miseryisabutterfly · 31/01/2020 10:18

I use the original batiste one.

& other stories has a nice one, it doesn’t leave any residue. The smell is slightly off putting though.

GinandGingerBeer · 04/02/2020 08:38

So the Klorane one arrived. Have I bought the right thing? It's a powder you puff into your hair (and all over yourself Confused)
I think I might have got a bit carried away as my hair feels like glue Sad

SpeckledyHen · 04/02/2020 08:49

Why don’t you just wash your hair ? Serious question.

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/02/2020 08:59

When I wash my hair, it takes a long time to restyle it with heat. If I use dry shampoo on the in-between days, I can just brush it for the same result. It also saves time in the shower, and reduces the amount of hot water I use.

Teacaketotty · 04/02/2020 11:29

@SpeckledyHen because i have to leave the house at 5.30am - and washing/drying my hair adds a precious half hour onto time that could be spent sleeping! Also when I don't wash it it doesn't need blow dried and hot straighteners on it which are really damaging if used every day.

gin. I think u got the manual one ( if you see what l mean?)
It should be an aerosol can. White , with green lettering. Smile

GinandGingerBeer · 04/02/2020 20:53

Oh bugger @withlotsoflove
Looks like I did. Bugger!
Hair feels (and looks) like candy floss Grin

To the PP who asked why not wash it.....
I don't wash it every day due to
Time-takes 45 min to blow dry
Colour- I have dark balayages and try to pre long the blonde bits
Condition-it's curly so doesn't like being shampooed frequently or heat from styling.
I also use dry shampoo as a styling product too so my hair doesn't end up like a triangle on my head.
Always a possibility Grin

Anyway, off to wash it now due to sticky candy floss mess, can't even get my fingers through it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Almahart · 06/02/2020 07:24

There is a new batiste one that you can’t get everywhere that is much better - no residue at all. I’ll check what it is when I get home
