Can someone find me a plus size bridesmaid dress to fit this sodding criteria

Asked to be a bridesmaid for a friend. Yay! Lovely!

She said “choose your own dress as long as it’s this shade of champagne” (both in the pic are acceptable). And I cannot find anything at all.

I’m a size 20/22, possibly an 18 by the wedding. 5’7, Broad shouldered and my weight is in my stomach. Other 4 bridesmaids are at least 3 inches shorter and sizes 8-12. So I’m going to stick out like a sore thumb regardless so having gone from a size 30, I want something that makes me feel amazing.

Has to be that colour

At least a cap sleeve (wedding in May so long sleeve probably look a bit odd)

Can be worn with a short heel...or converse (I don’t wear heels ever so she told me to buy champagne converse and wear them!)

Any fabric but I don’t want silk, it will cling to all my lumps and look awful

I did look at getting the white version of the attached dress dyed but nowhere can guarantee it’ll be that shade as it’ll come out differently on that type of fabric

I’m a bit desperate!

The dress you posted has a similar shape on the bodice and sleeve to a sewing pattern called Hannah by By Hand London, though it's a wrap dress. If you could find a seamstress they could make you one to fit, on your choice of fabric. I realise this isn't what you asked so please feel entirely free to ignore me Grin but it's what popped into my head when I read your post.

I have no personal knowledge of if they are any good but they were recommended on the can I breastfeed in it Facebook group as they will alter to allow you tonBF!

It looks as though they do plus sizes and custom sizes and obviously lots of different styles. Perhaps order a swatch and see if it's the right colour?

My DD was a bridesmaid a couple of years ago, the dresses were from this company. I'm not sure of cost but they were really well made.

So much pretty choice

Have you tried Lindy bop? They used to do a champagne coloured swing dress.

Why don't you have something made for you as a treat? You definitely deserve it!

blitzen · 09/05/2020 07:35

Totally agree with pps who suggest having something made. Might also be worth checking out what's available on ASOS.

Guys this post was from January. She mentions the wedding was to be held this month. Sadly that won't be happening.
