Just that!

All the US people in the skincare FB groups are jealous of our Boots

It's owned by Walmart, so most of the same stuff is available in the US too... I'd take Sephora over Boots any day Grin

Honeyroar · 12/01/2020 12:46

I go to the States at least twice a month. I rarely use Sephora. I think it’s overrated.

managedmis · 12/01/2020 12:50

They only really sell high end. I think Boots have it all covered, really.

But they do have a nice initiative where you can choose a certain coloured basket if you don't want help/hassle from staff! Which appeals to me enormously.

sockittome123 · 12/01/2020 12:53

When I went to France a couple of years ago there was one practically everywhere I go, I wish I'd looked properly but I never seemed to have the time. If they could bring one to the UK, I'd love it!

RightOnTheEdge · 12/01/2020 13:11

A family member got me one of their mascaras back from New York.
It's the best I've ever used for my lashes.. I was sad when it ran out.
If they had stores here it would probably be too expensive for me to shop regularly but I'd like to be able to buy that again.

RightOnTheEdge · 12/01/2020 13:12

Now I've said that though I've just found the same one on Ebay.

QueenOfTheFae · 12/01/2020 13:14

I'd love to have a bath and body works here!!

Neverenoughcoffee · 12/01/2020 13:17

I love Sephora and Ulta when we go to the US ( I prefer Ulta). I liked that the staff were on hand to help but weren't in my face trying to sell sell sell.
I love benefit cosmetics, but avoid that counter as the sales staff do not give people chance to browse before pouncing.

LemonRedwood · 12/01/2020 13:39

Me too! I remember buying their stuff all the time as a teenager and was really upset when they closed. I was addicted to all the honeysuckle scented stuff!

Skyejuly · 12/01/2020 13:45

We used to go in the one I west quay for our free make overs Grin

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 12/01/2020 14:27

I live in France where we have one, and there are other shops with the same model (eg Nocibe) selling own brand and mixed brand cosmetics/skincare.

I think PP are right and the U.K. market is saturated. Chemists in France, for example, don't really sell much make up or skincare, and the brands they do sell are different to the ones in Sephora. And there are not many department stores - none in my local shopping centres. I'd have to travel an hour and a half to get to one.

I don't think Sephora is particularly good value - I buy most skincare/cosmetics online.

snappycamper · 12/01/2020 14:30

I used to go to the angel one a lot. I wish we still had Sephora Sad

Housewife2010 · 12/01/2020 14:53

I love the Sephora Favourites sets which I used to order from the U.S. site. Unfortunately the ones available to be sent here were limited; you could only order ones which didn't contain perfume, aerosols or nail polish. I've never seen the Sephora Favourites sets in France or Italy.

HundredMilesAnHour · 12/01/2020 15:02

I totally love Sephora, especially their own brand range (which is increasingly hard to find). I used to live in France, which is where I first became addicted. So sad they're not in the UK but when they were here, they had really rubbish branches that weren't in the same league as the French ones so no wonder they weren't a UK success.

After I moved back to the UK from France, I luckily travelled on business a lot to the US (or Asia) so could still get my Sephora fix. Sadly those days are now over and I have serious Sephora withdrawal. They stopped delivery online to the UK (rubbish excuse blaming it on the introduction of GDPR) so I am quite cross with them but still missing my fix.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 12/01/2020 18:46

My favourite moisturiser is a Sephora own brand one. I stocked up in the summer in Corfu town where it was also on offer. Dd loves the shower gels that come in squeezy tubs that look like a big pill.
Most of the other stuff I can get elsewhere but the own brand stuff is great.

happymrsc · 12/01/2020 19:00

I don't know but I really wish we did! Discovered it on a holiday to Florida and then managed to get in to stock up a bit on holiday in France last year. I would be a regular if it was here!

MiniGuinness · 12/01/2020 19:08

It’s Walgreens not Walmart. Boots used to deliver to the US until their alliance with Walgreens, now a very limited amount of Boots stuff is available from Walgreens. Or Target, but it really is limited.

I just don’t think you can compare Boots with Sephora, Boots is far far better. Which is probably why Sephora was not successful in the UK.

Bananaman123 · 12/01/2020 20:10

They US side used to ship to uk, stopped couple of years ago. You can buy from sephora france online and ship to uk. The issue for me is i want the brands you can buy in america, Tatcha being one of them.

Boots is under the same umbrella as walgreens which is great and i think with the new brands boots have on board now, its great. Im still holding out for a bath and body works to come back to uk

Ofthread · 12/01/2020 20:14

Yes, Tatcha is what I want too.

I really wish we had a target!

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/01/2020 20:19

Even if we did have sephora over here it would be unlikely it would carry the same brands as the US store does. Brands often have exclusive deals with different retailers, sephora would have to compete with our already established retailers like boots to get the rights back.

Boots seem to be upping their game recently though with all the new brands they're carrying. Even my shitty boots has gently beauty now.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/01/2020 20:20

Fenty not gently

Doyoumind · 12/01/2020 20:23

There were a couple I used to get bits in in the UK.

TellySavalashairbrush · 12/01/2020 20:24

When I lived in Italy I found Sephora very expensive. Give me Boots any day.

Cheeseboardcriminal · 12/01/2020 20:25

I didnt think boots stock high end make up. They seem to just have max factor and Barry M type stuff in the ones near me.

I want to buy Fenty and Tarte and Laura Mercier none of that have I eve seen in boots.
