Mascara, how often do you use a new tube?

Hi all, no mystery there, it all in the title! I wondered how often you replace your mascara.
I am asking because I bought a new mascara tube about 2 months ago and wear some virtually every day. I was happy with it to begin with but it has now started to give me Alice Cooper's eyes by midday.
I am wondering if it's because I am using the last dregs? But I seem to remember that normally a mascara tube lasts me a bit longer like three months.
So, how long does a tube last you?

About 6 months I think 🤔

GlamGiraffe · 16/01/2020 12:49

About 4 months.
I use chanel inimitable intense. It's the best mascara I've ever used. Only one coat required for excellent coverage (thickening, lengthening and curl all in one), it lasts all day, doesnt smudge or flake. I could make it last much longer as it fldoesnt actually run out quickly as I'm not using loads in layering up the coats but I like to use a fresh bottle as its nicer fresher.
It's also the least irritating mascara I've found. I've had some terrible reactions to some.

About 3-4 months, don't use it every day but it does start to thicken up and like a pp I'm a contact lens wearer very careful about eye hygiene. I tend to get them from No7 when there's a voucher offer on.

about 2 or 3 times a year.

XJerseyGirlX · 16/01/2020 13:53

Every 4 months

RhythimIsRhythim · 16/01/2020 18:46

Every 3-6 months. I read first that 6 months is good for hygiene, then a few years later I read it was 3 months. 3 months seems a bit quick to me- like something manufacturers put out to get you to buy more.

So I buy up sample tubes if my brand off ebay when I can, and find they do last about 3 months so it’s not a waste to stop using then for hygiene reasons, as it’s finished anyway. If I have to buy a full size one I get closer to six months out of it.

Oh dear, I've had mine about 5 years Grin

woodhill · 16/01/2020 22:21

About 3 months, they go clogged.

You could put the tube in hot water

timetest · 16/01/2020 22:26

About every 3 months. I'm currently using benefit mascara as it's one of the few that doesn't clog.

I have a tube for about 6 months. I don’t wear it every day, maybe 3 days a week. I know it’s probably riddled with bacteria but Blush
