Do these bras fit?

I need help Blush. I haven’t had my boobs measured in ages and I’ve definitely been wearing the wrong size bra as my nipples pop out at every opportunity.

I recently went into my local M&S, asked to be measured and they directed me towards a man so I walked out.

I’ve been wearing a 34C and these two are a 32D. Do they look like they fit? I’ve been reading threads on here and it seems as if you ladies know more than the actual fitters!

Do they look too tight around the band? I tried a 34d on but the cups gaped at the top.

Use the boob or bust measuring. I went from a
34dd to 34gg. I have never felt more comfortable and supported. I wear a size 14 top

dementedpixie · 11/01/2020 18:25

The band may look tight due to the cup being too small as the breast tissue steals inches from the back.

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/01/2020 18:25

Right, boob or bust it is. I’m off to find DH’s tape measure and some string.

I shall report back!

I'm a 8/10 and I wear 30E on widest setting or 32DD on smallest setting (I'm a 31 I think!)
You'll never need a 34"

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/01/2020 18:33

Boob and bust saying 30H! 😱

HollowTalk · 11/01/2020 18:36

What the hell are M&S doing, sending you to a man to have your breasts measured?

BuffaloCauliflower · 11/01/2020 18:42

That sounds much more likely, you’re probably squashing the breast tissue down a lot. Join the Boob or Bust group and read some of the the fitting posts, that’ll just be a starting size to work with it’s more art than science. Do get to Bravissimo if you can.

And some bulge is fine, you want it fitting firmly and most of us have at least some flesh that will be displaced by this, doesn’t mean it doesn’t fit.

BiarritzCrackers · 11/01/2020 18:44

I found some issues with M&S sizing being too small when I bought these two bras there in November, and the comments about them online report the same, about the band size measuring short:

www.marksandspencer.com/2-tone-jacquard-and-lace-full-cup-bra-dd-h/p/clp22455959?color=NAVYMIX

www.marksandspencer.com/wild-blooms-non-padded-full-cup-bra-dd-/p/clp60285065?color=MIDMAGENTA

I took half a dozen sizes into the fitting room in the end, and a 36G was the best fit (my Boob or Bust is 32G).

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/01/2020 18:47

Sorry, it said a 28H not a 30H.

The two I bought off ASOS were from New Look. They’re definitely going back and I’ll see what else I can find.

dementedpixie · 11/01/2020 18:49

Also be aware M&S miss out the FF cup so a G in there will be actually be FF

dementedpixie · 11/01/2020 18:50

It can be hard to find 28 backs sometimes so the sister size of 28H is 30GG

Sagradafamiliar · 11/01/2020 18:52

How is a man fitting bras appropriate? They've lost their grasp on all reality lately.

TheMarzipanDildo · 11/01/2020 18:53

28H sounds much more likely then 34C/32D OP! Maybe start with a 30G and see how well that fits though- it can feel a bit strange at first with a tighter back.

BBOA · 11/01/2020 18:55

Definitely too small. The middle section where the cup underwires meet should be flat to the skin. You shouldn't have any bridge of material if you get me. You need a larger cup size. Personally have found M&S OK but always have to try several on to get the right fit and not necessarily what they say it is.

latheritup · 11/01/2020 18:59

I don't think they do. They don't look bad but they don't look right.

I'd absolutely recommend going for a fitting at Bravissimo. I did myself a few weeks ago and I'm so much more comfortable! I didn't even realise the discomfort I was in before.

GlamGiraffe · 11/01/2020 19:06

From what I can see I'd say the band size us ok. The cups are too small. Try going up a couple of sizes in the cup. It's not always as simple as the size as the cup that makes the difference, it's the shape of the cup. Some of us fit a balconette perfectly others can only wear a plunge cut. You need to try different styles as well as sizes.
Where are the wires sitting on the outside of the cups @GoBackToPartyCity ? It's a good way to determine if the cups are too small or the style is bad for you. I'd guess the cup size is yoo small

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/01/2020 19:12

Looking at the pics again now, I can see that I’m bulging out of the sides so a bigger cup is definitely needed.

I’ve just ordered a 28H, a 30G and 30GG so we’ll see what they look like when they arrive. I’m actually quite excited!

OP posts:
ShirleyPhallus · 11/01/2020 19:12

I’m really not being rude to OP but how on earth could she be a 28H?!

The band in the second one looks tight and would be uncomfortable if it went 2 sizes down. Her boobs look a perfectly normal size but if she was an H, how does anyone with bigger boobs find any bras that fit? They don’t go up to M/N routinely

I really cannot get on board with the tight options, they look so uncomfortable

dementedpixie · 11/01/2020 19:14

Because the bra can feel tight if the cup size is too small. The excess breast tissue is taking up some of the back material so it's no longer just supporting from underneath.

GoBackToPartyCity · 11/01/2020 19:16

Ha! I was thinking the same! I’ll post pics when they arrive.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 11/01/2020 19:17

28H sister sizes are 30GG, 32G, 34FF, 36F, 38E (same cup volume on different back sizes)

You are using the biggest setting on the hooks arent you? They are the ones you should be using so the band is as big as can be. Also the bit where the cups meet need to lay against your chest.

Sometimes it's the style as much as the measurement. I hate plunge bras, my boob always feel like they want to fall out!

VirtualHamster · 11/01/2020 19:25

30G likely to be too big I think.

I'd say 30E/F is more likely

MrsH497 · 11/01/2020 19:26

@ShirleyPhallus most retailers do go up to g/h cups and that is also where bravissimo is amazing because they do pretty bras in bigger sizes. Curvy Kate and Leia also do.

I am a size 10 (although 21 weeks pregnant) even before I was pregnant I was a 28/30f and I don't have huge looking boobs
