PsychosonicCindy · 10/01/2020 19:44

My dd13 absolutely despairs of me and my apparent lack of style, so all you style gurus give it to me straight AIBU am I being unfashionable??My worst crimes according to dd:
My crocs
My skechers go walks
My Dunlop green flash trainers
Bootcut jeans
Long cardigans (usually brown/oatmeal)
My fluffy eyelash yarn jumpers
What's the verdict?

Definitely unfashionable, sorry

HelloAgainYou · 10/01/2020 19:47

I'm sorry. I'm significantly older than your DD and I would be embarrassed. xx

Sparklyring · 10/01/2020 19:48

Definitely unfashionable. Crocs?!?!

CoffeeConnoiseur · 10/01/2020 19:48

Well I've heard bootcut jeans are back in...Grin

Horcrux · 10/01/2020 19:49

I’ve no idea what a fluffy eyelash jumper is?

I’m really intrigued in what your dunlop trainers look like.

The rest is unfashionable

SunshineOutdoors · 10/01/2020 19:52

Surely green flash are classics?

Craftycorvid · 10/01/2020 19:53

No idea about trainers, sorry! But long beige-y cardis can be very unflattering, and crocs are only ok if you are on a beach or gardening. But, are you fine with what you wear? If, yes, your DD’s comments should result in a shrug on your part (not the kind you wear).

PsychosonicCindy · 10/01/2020 19:53

A fluffy eyelash jumper is just a really fluffy coloured jumper like what was 'in' in the 80s.
My Dunlop trainers are simular to converse but bit chunkier. White & green. Like what tennis players used to wear.
Thanks everyone keep it coming dd is in stitches!

I'm all for people wearing whatever the hell they like, but apart from the Dunlops your DC might have a point.

Miseryisabutterfly · 10/01/2020 20:01

😂

RibenaMonsoon · 10/01/2020 20:05

I don't care what anyone says, long cardigans are awesome.
I'd swap the bootcut jeans for standard leg or preferably skinny fit and a pair of ankle boots.

Also, all Crocs must be burned.

PsychosonicCindy · 10/01/2020 20:18

Haha thanks everyone!
Luckily I'm not that bothered about being fashionable I value warmth and comfort above everything but I must admit I thought dd was exaggerating my hopelessness! But obviously not!! Grin x

Give your head a shake and have a word with yourself! You lost me at crocs! Christ woman CROCS?? Confused They're vile! Tell your DD to phone childline immediately Grin

user1494055864 · 10/01/2020 20:37

Throw in a waterfall cardigan, (I'm sure you have one of them too), and you literally have the full set of what not to wear. Let your dd take you shopping.Grin

Ellapaella · 10/01/2020 21:01

Almost so unfashionable you're in danger of becoming fashionable Op! It certainly all sounds quite unique, probably a bit quirky even....

Ellapaella · 10/01/2020 21:02

Although Crocs can never be considered anything other than hideous.. (I wear them myself at work and they are literally the most comfortable shoe you can get for a 12 hour shift).

FloreanFortescue · 10/01/2020 21:07

Oh dear OP Wink

FloreanFortescue · 10/01/2020 21:08

Perhaps humour her with a shopping/styling trip!

Zoflorabore · 10/01/2020 21:08

Bootcut jeans are horrible. Crocs are good on toddlers at the beach, the long cardigans scream “librarian” and you need dd to take you shopping. You can still feel good and comfortable without looking like a pensioner on a day trip.

Seriously op, if you can afford it, go for it, throw caution to the wind and enjoy! Your dd knows best Wink

Bishybarnybee · 10/01/2020 21:17

To be fair, bootcut jeans are not intrinsically horrible and neither are waterfall cardigans. They both looked fine when they were in fashion and look terribly dated now. Crocs on the other hand......
