Got a night out at a casino with DH’s work colleagues this weekend. They’re all young and gorgeous, I’m 45, fat and frumpy.

Please can you help me find something nice to wear that won’t look too try-hard (it’s not a dressy-up glam casino but I’m sure the women will all still be making an effort, including DH’s ex wife, who is always there too and is slim, blonde and traditionally good-looking Angry ).

DH will always tell me I’m beautiful and doesn’t make me feel bad, so I’d be fine if I wear jeans and a nice top, but I just want to look nice so I feel more confident.

Attached headless photo - I’m 5’3” and size 18, bit of an apple, but I do have decent boobs. Hate my legs. They’re ok in tights with boots, as I have big calves. Happy in trousers/top, dress, jumpsuit whatever.

I have shoulder length black hair, usually wear red lipstick and will do my nails etc so I feel more polished.

Just don’t know where to start! I don’t have a huge budget after Xmas etc so need to keep it under £50 if possible. If you can help with some ideas I’d be eternally grateful.

Great rack!

Ha ha Grin thank you!

That looks ideal actually. Never shopped at BooHoo how’s their sizing?

Needs dressing up though. Some nice gold or silver coloured jewellry or something brighter coloured.

You look great! Amazed you are an 18 tbh I'd never have guessed. There are so many sales. Look at monsoon, jd williams, John Lewis online and get an idea. You should easily be able to pick up a 'cocktail' dress ( so posh but not maxi length) or jumpsuit for £50. Or go lovely new top over existing jeans.
