Finding Chelsea boots which arn't sloppy and loose around ankle

I'm trying to buy my first ever pair of Chelsea boots. I've tried loads on in the shops and they all feel really loose around the ankle, which makes my heel lift up every time I walk. Is this just how Chelsea boots are supposed to feel? Or do need to spend time searching for a pair which perfectly fit your ankle?

I found a style which fitted better, but the shop didn't have the colour I wanted so I ordered a similar boot online from the same manufacturer, and they are uncomfortably loose around the ankle again!

Does it make a difference if there is elastic panels or zips up the side? Or do I just accept this style isn't for me? I specifically wanted no laces so I can use them on my cycling commute without faffing around tucking laces in.

I think thats just the style of them... Its what makes them easy to slip off and on.

I have a pair the top is loose on my ankle, but not massively so. Enough for some wiggle room anyway. Never noticed my heel lifting out of them when walking?

I have thick ankles and struggle to get Chelsea boots that fit. Dr Martens have a zip up Chelsea style boot which all the reviews say have very narrow ankles, they might be perfect for you?

I have skinny ankles, gave up with Chelsea boots & went for ones with laces/buckles so I could tighten them up a bit, might be worth trying.

I have some from kurt guiger which have a sort of ankle strap which aren’t sloppy.

They are called ‘Slow’ I think.

Kurt Geiger Dalby Chelsea boots are very neat around the ankle. It looks like there are only small sizes left though.
