Recommend a pair of sports leggings

As the title suggests. I’m in the market for new sports leggings. Ideally not break the bank pricing. If they could magically make my bum and legs look like I’m actually active not just aspirationally active that would be nice.

5’5” size 8, but skinny fat IYKWIM.

Lapasa are generally a good fit and budget friendly. Dds have a pair each and wear them a lot, and I just got some for running.

instapaints · 03/01/2020 17:06

Are you looking more for the yoga kind or the running kind? IME, the ones from Under Armour and Alo Yoga are great. Some of the Nikes are not squat-proof so that's one thing to test out if you're getting those.

Rosere · 03/01/2020 17:23

Nike dri fit. They are fantastic, and most importantly, not see through

OxanaVorontsova · 03/01/2020 17:25

Asos high waisted are fab

Zampa · 03/01/2020 17:28

Lululemon tights make your bum look amazing but are eye-wateringly expensive. I just got my first pair for Christmas and gutted I've been too ill to go to the gym since.

On a more sensible basis, I like my Alice Liveing leggings from Primark. She's just launched a new collection. They stay put when running and squatting, don't go see through and are bum flattering.

cloudjumper · 03/01/2020 17:29

Gymshark leggings are fab!

ZaraW · 03/01/2020 17:33

Alo Yoga are great quality and sweatshop free.

Chochito · 03/01/2020 18:44

I like Victoria's Secret, they don't fall down and are a good fit, and lightweight but not see-through. Hard wearing and wash well.

Nike are comfy but fall down so no use for running and some other types of exercise.

Hollycatberry · 03/01/2020 18:57

Victoria secret for me also. Great fit, wash well, lightweight fabric and are not see through. Are a bit more money but sometimes they do deals. H&M are good for budget, but found they didn’t keep their shape after a year (but were ok for the price).

AuntieStella · 03/01/2020 19:05

Decathlon are easily the best VFM and have a wide range of styles - including different lengths, thicknesses, colours (change by season). Fabric is good and doesn't go see-thru. Most styles have drawstrings and pockets.

Duvetdweller · 03/01/2020 19:10

Sweaty Betty for me - expensive but cost per wear is pennies, they wash brilliantly, I’ve got some that must be 10 years old! And the sale is on 😁

Djchickpea · 03/01/2020 19:15

I second Sweaty Betty

OverByYer · 03/01/2020 19:19

I’ve just bought these from Marks new fitness range.
Nice and thick so no see through on the bum when doing yoga and a nice high waist

Thismeanswarfarin · 03/01/2020 19:42

Lululemon hands down make your bun look the best wither the aligns which come in a 7/8s or the wunder under for something a bit thicker .
Sweaty Betty are nice quality but so nothing for the bum region and the patterns are garish.
If you're on a budget there's an amazon brand called CRZ yoga that make dupes for Lululemon for about 15 pounds .

princesskatethefirst · 03/01/2020 19:50

Victoria secrets again here, only buy in the sale or the states though. The only ones that don't fall down when running!!!

Runningonempty84 · 03/01/2020 19:53

@AuntieStella is right. Decathlon are great quality and great value. That's why proper runners wear them! You can't move at road races for a sea of Kalenji...

Chochito · 03/01/2020 21:10

It's true, Decathlon leggings are extremely popular. I just find them a bit thin for running in.

OverByYer · 03/01/2020 21:43

I’ve got the decathlon running leggings and fight the fabric a bit stiff and crunchy.

I had some good ones from Biba in the sale too.

Avoid Next too thin

ladybee28 · 03/01/2020 21:50

Slight thread detour: what is 'skinny fat'?

Zampa · 03/01/2020 22:09

Someone who's skinny fat has a "normal" weight and BMI but a higher body fat % and not enough muscle recommended for optimal health. They're also likely to have high visceral fat, that's fat around the organs not under the skin.

Not saying this is OP but it's how I understand the term.

FartnissEverbeans · 04/01/2020 07:55

Nike are great and I don’t find that they fall down at all. I do a lot of exercise and that has never been an issue for me. They’re really flattering too.

Thecatisboss · 04/01/2020 08:02

Another vote for Decathalon Kalenji running leggings particularly the pocket in some which is big enough for a smart phone.

Outedsochanged · 04/01/2020 08:03

Daughter runs several times a week. Swears by Nike running tights for plain ones and Tikiboo for fun designs. Both are high waisted, she also has some Gym shark shorts. (For bum shape I would say the Tikiboo have the bestWink)
I guess it's probably a case of finding the brand that suits your body shape. She is a size 8 sprinter so big thighs and small waist

ritzbiscuits · 04/01/2020 08:04

I buy patterned sports leggings from H&M - aused msijly for yoga/Pilates

ritzbiscuits · 04/01/2020 08:04

Sorry - Used mainly for yoga/Pilates!
