It is my son's birthday in October and we are having a big party.
I want to look good. I'm currently 4 stone over weight and had a 'telling off' from my doctor!

So I need an action plan on everything!! Beauty tips, weight loss ideas, anything!
Thanks in advance! 😁

That sounds like a great target to focus on!

For weight loss, have you ever tried to lose weight before? If you have, think about why it didn't work and try and find a system that manages out those risks. For me, I'm a negotiator... give me an inch and I'll take a mile. So I needed a clear plan that didn't waffle around with all the stuff that's supposed to make you feel it's easy. I needed hard and fast rules with no space to flex! But that's not right for everyone, so try and work out what can make to stick to it, as that's going to be the key.

For the rest, I'd make little changes, one at a time. If you have a list of them, you can make them mini targets or rewards eg if I do x exercise 3x a week then I'll go and get a make up tutorial and buy some more make up? Work out all the little things you can do to add up to a glorious total, and pick them off gradually?

Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the reply!
I have never had to diet before as I used to love exercise. About 4 years ago a lot of negative changed happened and I had a couple of rough years and abandoned the gym, cycling and all my other activities. I lost my mojo so to speak. I put on a couple of pounds and didnt worry, they became a few more and then if course a few stone.
Now it seems an impossible task to be 9.5 stone again ( or in that region!)
I'm starting with half stone goals! My husband and kids tell me I look great and are kind but I dont really. I dont want to be an embarrassment for my son at his 21st.

Would it help to sort of ‘kickstart’ your love of exercise again? Perhaps by getting a personal trainer a few times a week, if you can afford it? With my trainer, I pay upfront for a certain number of sessions or a time period where I can go as many times as I like within that time frame. It works out much cheaper that way, plus knowing I’ve paid already makes me more motivated to go.
Having three sessions a week - in my case - has made a massive difference quite quickly.
In your case, maybe you could do it short term - maybe for a month / 6 weeks with a trainer, giving yourself a huge Adrenalin boost, and helping you find that love for exercise again?

The things I found that worked for me were;

Slimming world
Going vegan + teetotal
Breastfeeding

Guessing at least one of those wouldn't appeal Grin

What didn't work for me:

5:2 diet
Personal trainer

Colonic irrigation?

You could think of it as having a internal spring clean

If your eyelashes or brows are a bit weedy then I'd pass on a recommendation that I saw on here for Rapidlash and Rapidbrow. I've been using them for three months now and my brows are thicker and darker and my eyelashes are getting very long.

Other things that have worked for me are retin A (but don't start retinoids too close to a big event, much flaking can occur), minimal alcohol, lots of colourful fruit and veg, reducing salt (I get very puffy faced when I over do the crisps), and long brisk walks or running. And a good sunblock every day (I like Biore).

I have a wedding in July (bridesmaid) so I’m planning on doing the same as you OP! Got two stones to lose so going to join slimming world (peer pressure and all that). No alcohol apart from very special occasions, healthy eating, exercise 3x a week (I do go to the gym twice a week already but want to up it to 3x), drinking lots of water.
I feel so low and fed up and I know my diet has a lot to do with it! Hope I can notice a difference by the summer! Good luck OP!

notacooldad · 02/01/2020 22:11

Some good ideas although I'm not sure about the colonic irrigation though. My friend has this from time to time and I'm not ready for that step!
Rapid brow sounds interesting! I'll look into that.
I have a sugar-carby face at the moment. I've noticed it over the last few weeks but it goes once I'm back to my usual eating!
My gym offers a couple of 1:1 sessions a month so I'll book that.
I need to go back HIIT classes I think!

Hopefully in another couple of months I'll be asking for nice dress recommendations in my old size!

My opinion is simple, decide on how you are going to achieve this, stay focused, don't give up, don't get depressed when you do not loose weight one week, just keep plodding on and I guarantee you that if you stick to your goal and do not cheat you will get there.
