What cold-weather friendly tops do you wear with high waisted trousers?

I've got a new pair of high waisted cord skater trousers that I love, but not quite there on what to wear on the top half. They're these trousers & they do indeed look great with a crop t-shirt but that's not really ideal right now given I live in rural Wales where people aren't big on central heating

So pretty please, would you show me what you're wearing with high waisted trousers that looks current (cosy hoodie is fine but loses the up to date feel of the bottom half).

Tuck in a long sleeve thermal top and wear a cropped jumper.

Sounds good - getting the boxy shape without a nasty draft around the kidneys Any favourites in terms of tops / jumpers? Was looking at this cardigan which is a rather lovely colour I think.
