Determined to be comfy at the work do this year. Critique my outfit.

Last year I wore a tight/wiggle style, very Jessica Rabbit dress with impractical heels. I looked good but was wholly uncomfortable all night long. As soon as I ate one sprout I looked 7 months preggers and I had to wrestle with a bodyshaper with rogue poppers every time I needed a wee.

This year I'm determined to be comfy and to that end have bought this dress.

Plan is to wear with 30 denier black tights and my favourite high but chunky black ankle boots.

My style is probably best described as quirky/vintage/out there. I have purple hair and piercings/tattoos. Size 12. Hourglass bordering on apple (have spanx). Good legs.

Do is dinner and dancing at one of those big joint dos at a nice hotel for lots of different businesses. No official dress code.

I can't see a picture?

There's a link to the dress @carolinelucaseshandbag

Sorry yes I see it now. I love the dress, I'd wear it to an Xmas party. Go for it, OP.

Catrina1999 · 08/12/2019 00:39

I think it'll look lovely , I hope you enjoy yourself! :)

KnitFastDieWarm · 08/12/2019 00:43

Love it; ditch the bodyshaper, do something fabulous with your hair, and eat, drink and be merry WineXmas Grin

newdeer · 08/12/2019 00:54

That's a brilliant dress. Love the sleeves. I might wear lighter denier tights with it though, since you have good legs.

GeoffreyAndBungle · 08/12/2019 00:59

Lovely dress!

HerRoyalNotness · 08/12/2019 01:09

Really nice!

StarlightLady · 08/12/2019 02:42

It’s a lovely dress. See how you get on without the spanx if you are going to be dancing the night away. And without stating the obvious, don’t forget the “emergency tights”.

Sarcelle · 08/12/2019 09:00

Love it. Spanx not needed with this style either.

BergamotandVetiver · 08/12/2019 09:57

Thanks everyone 💐

Will post update when it arrives. Feel optimistic though.

Oooh I love that! You’ll look great

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 08/12/2019 10:09

Love it! No Spanx needed surely? I might go without tights (well I’d go with nude tights but that me and Kate Middleton only I think!).

Loopytiles · 08/12/2019 10:11

That’s a super dressy, bling dress. Is it a dressy do?

BergamotandVetiver · 08/12/2019 10:13

Nude tights are 100% not for me. My style is as far removed from KM as is humanly possible 🤣.

Yes it's a dressy do. Definitely not too OTT.

Sequinned dresses/clothes can be super itchy though so you might end up uncomfortable in different way just.

riverrunsred · 08/12/2019 14:28

Fuck the Spanx!

Great dress, your style sounds amazing. Thanks

Beketaten · 08/12/2019 14:32

Great dress, fab choice. I'd also not bother with the Spanx. You'll be sitting down at dinner and then it'll be dark, so nobody will see anyway!

Velveteenfruitbowl · 08/12/2019 14:36

I wouldn’t bother with Spanx. The dress really doesn’t require it and everyone at work will know what you look like anyway.
