I want an absolutely classic pair of tall brown flat leather boots, Spanish riding boot style, to wear to work. The problem is that I am towards the hobbit end of the size spectrum (though fortunately without the furry feet) and all tall boots seem to be cut for women with legs a good 3 inches longer than mine, so that knee boots really do mean right up on the knee and look like I'm playing dress-up in my mum's shoes. Do boots like these exist in a shorter length, like about 12-13 inches rather than the classic 15-16 inches that most knee boots are? All the calf boots I can find are often much shorter, and are usually much more casual, chunky biker or sheepskin style. But I already have biker boots and country boots, and although I love them they aren't great with a more formal outfit.
I want an investment pair that keep my feet dry and warm, not a cheap pair, so would prefer ones from a brand like Gabor, Ecco, Peter Kaiser or similar rather than e.g. Next, Jones Bootmaker etc which I've given up on after getting sopping wet feet one too many times. I had a brief moment of hope on finding these labelled "calf length boots" on John Lewis, but the closer I look the more I'm convinced that they've been mislabelled and are really just ordinary knee boots with a wide calf fitting.
Am I asking the impossible? I'm not even that short!
