What should I wear with this dress?

Going to my aunty's party on Friday & have a gorgeous new dress same as this one here. I have a long narrow black crochet boa-type scarf with beads on & was going to wear that but was wondering if it would go okay. Would I maybe be better off with a necklace of some kind?

Also what should I wear over the top (if anything)? And what kind of shoes?

It's so long since dh & I have been out anywhere I seem to have lost the knack for dressing up so any advice would be much appreciated.

my favourite kind of question!

definitely no long scarfy thing. Just a necklace and some drop earrings (if you have pierced ears and if you are wearing your hair up - if you are wearing your hair down, then just studs) Nothing over the top - why hide that great sexy top?? and as for shoes - anything strappy. Heels (they don't need to be vertiginous) would be great but if you are more comfortable in a strappy flat, then grand. But deffo nothing closed in.

have a great time!

What sort of party is it? Boa type scarf sounds very dressy and a bit evening-y. We just don't do that sort of dressy here. Dress is lovely but does look a bit revealing. Will that be OK?

just re-read my post and realised it sounds a bit off. I was thinking really that I never get dressed up these days. Lucky you! Maybe hair a bit messy?

id do strapy heals and long necklace(possibly slightly bling to dress up black) and matching earings

but i am a mess most days

I have really short hair so was just gonna mess it up with some putty. Don't have pierced ears but as 9mo ds tried to yank his gran's earring out today I'm quite glad about that

The top is very revealing (my dad won't be pleased lol) but I am rather on the small side so at least I won't have to worry about falling out.

I'm still bfing ds so figured that if I wore the boa thingy it would help cover things up when he decides he's thirsty. It's a 60th birthday do in a pub function room so I suppose the boa might be a bit dressy which is a bugger 'cos I've spent the last week crocheting it lol.

Thanks for the tips folks - it'll be nice to look feminine for a change.

how about pashmina to cover boobies

paulaplumpbottom · 21/08/2007 22:32

Its very low cut what about a very long gold chain necklace, a couple or a trio would be even better. If you did that you could team it with a pair of fabulous gold shoes

A jumper to keep you warm - I'm freezing tonight!
