where in the sam hill can I find plain white tees for my 1yo??? Why must everything be pink with glittery butterflies on? I found a plain tee the other day and it was £10!!!! Ridiculous. Want something priced to reflect the fact that a) she will grow out of them in next to no time and b) they will be stained with blueberry juice within minutes of wearing. A pack of three for £4 sounds good to me. I've tried Sainsburys, Mothercare, all the usual suspects - help!!!

what about plain bodysuits?

Pinkveto · 21/08/2007 22:10

I got a plain white BOYS tee shirt in Sainsburys, part of a 3 pack, with a light blue, and a stripey blue.

I have enourmous sympathy with you - check the name.

moljam · 21/08/2007 22:10

you can buy vests(not button ones-big girl ones!) with short sleeves would that do?

Stargazing · 21/08/2007 22:15

thanks ladies, I have lots of bodysuits but wanted some t-shirts for that untucked look (not that I dress my dd like a mini-me, LOL) I saw a pack of three at Sainsos this arvo but the other two were (ARGH!) dark pink and light pink. Had not checked out Woolies though - will do so. Ta.

i mean the vests that look like tshirts, cant think where from-gggrr isnt it annoying when you cant think!

Pinkveto · 21/08/2007 22:17

john lewis do vests that are essentially like t shirts. 6 pounds for 5 - how many do you want?

Stargazing · 21/08/2007 22:17

ooh, moljam don't know what you mean - a vest to me is something that you wear under your clothes to keep you warm, is that what you mean?

OP posts:
snowwonder · 21/08/2007 22:19

what about gap?
hennes?

Beenleigh · 21/08/2007 22:20

vertbaudet, maybe bit pricey.
why don't you just use plain white vests instead of T-shirts, which you can get from everywhere.

Beenleigh · 21/08/2007 22:21

sorry, hadn;t read all ops

Stargazing · 21/08/2007 22:23

okay hold it right there! what do you all mean by 'vests'??? A vest to me is a sleeveless item of underwear that is fairly close-fitting - I am looking for a thing with sleeves that is not so close-fitting.

Be gentle, I am Australian.

Pinkveto · 21/08/2007 22:25

stargazer that is a wife beater!!

A vest in this context is a short sleeved top, usually longish in the body as it is worn as an extra layer in this dismal climate to stay warm, hence is usually tucked in.

But, they are essentially a T shirt and can be worn as an outer layer.

Stargazing · 21/08/2007 22:27

thank you Pinkveto - I will search accordingly!

PS - it's only a wifebeater if worn when drinking a Stella

OP posts:
moljam · 21/08/2007 22:28

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Pinkveto · 21/08/2007 22:28

the john lewis ones have those "envelope" necks, just like body suits, and wont be that tight fitting.

They are made of cotton usually.

Of course just to confuse you, vests for adults and older children are as you describe, sleevless, bit of lycra, (sometimes lace, silk, etc when you go top end, sometimes polyester bottom end of market)

moljam · 21/08/2007 22:28

whilst drinking stella and scratching bum

Beenleigh · 21/08/2007 22:34

l/s gathered neck T's l/s blouse Not much out there from the plain white t-shirt point of view. Like you I absolutely HATE logos and sparkles, and have been on edless similar search. Decided to use white vests if wearing them underneath something, but not as main outerwear.....aaahhhhh, this might be what you're looking for!

Stargazing · 21/08/2007 22:36

stop! it's bad enough that I had to buy a jumper in the middle of this so-called summer today - all of this talk of vests is just too much!!

Pass the VB, willya?

but thanks all - will get dd kitted out appropriately by the week's end, dammit.
