It stinks 😒. I'm thinking hand wash cycle followed by tumble dryer. Will it be ruined??

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you checked the label?

iusedtoloveopalfruits1 · 23/11/2019 16:10

A when you dry it make sure you have dryer balls or tennis balls in with it to fluff it back up again it’ll be fine.

AuntieMarys · 23/11/2019 16:10

I have 5 uniqlo down jackets and wash them.all on a handwash cycle

carrots555 · 23/11/2019 16:11

I put my Hobbs puffa coat in the machine just last week and it was fine. Cannot recall if I used a regular cycle or a wool wash with Woolite.
I think mine is synthetic. From my previous Googling I think sometimes the real down ones can go all weird with how the down lies inside the 'folds' but sometimes can be fixed by tumble drying with tennis balls.

carrots555 · 23/11/2019 16:12

Oh and mine said dry clean only but I tend to ignore those and just hope for the best.

GatherlyGal · 23/11/2019 16:12

Thanks that's reassuring. It says hand wash but I remember someone on here worrying they had ruined theirs by machine washing it.

I've got a down duvet which washes and dries beautifully.

Thanks all

Yes I have 2 and wash them on a delicate then tumble dry on delicate. They wash beautifully and fluff right back up when dry.

Mine did go a bit funny after machine washing, all the filling seemed to clump together but after a few wears it was all ok again

DavenotChas · 23/11/2019 17:27

Yes! I washed and tumble dried mine this morning and wore it this afternoon! It's all squishy and puffy and smells of coconuts. It goes in the wash at least 3 or 4 times each winter.

MillyMollie · 23/11/2019 18:06

Yes, on a delicate wash and tumble dry on low heat with tennis balls

SpeckledyHen · 23/11/2019 18:20

Yes . I washed mine for 20 minutes on a 30 degree wash followed by a tumble dry and it came out as new . I never thought of looking at the label , having thrown a cup of coffee on it there was nothing to lose .

Tolleshunt · 23/11/2019 21:08

If the down is funny then it isn’t properly dry, even if the outer shell feels dry. It can take longer than expected. Pop it back in the tumble drier for another half an hour and it should fluff right up again. Use the tennis balls pp mentioned to help the process along.
