I usually wear a dress - perhaps not as formal as a wedding but almost. It depends on what sort of christening - if part of normal service I would dress less formally than a stand alone ceremony.

I would suggest a dress if quite pg - quite comfortable yet smart. Something from Isabella Oliver if you want to spend that much or something like this - www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=m-dresses&ProductID=12308&language=en-GB ?

or this www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detailfash.php?type=FASH&code=A9304&branch=&category= Seemingly a bargain at £19 ?

Its a stand alone christening service, with reception at pub to follow.
Do you think a pair of black trousers, heels and a nice top might be dressy enough?
I really dont want to have to buy something that i might never wear again

I went to a christening yesterday and that's exactly what I wore - smart black trousers, nice white top and a pair of heels (although I'm not preganant any more - DD was in the pram .

My SIL wore jeans to her own son's christening

Everyone else was smartly dressed, even her DH and the baby. Twas a bit wierd.

fifi - that sounds fine to me. Comfortable but smart and reuseable
