Would it be possible to manage with a cape/poncho when pregnant in winter?

My warm winter coat is now too tight to wear but I do happen to have 2 lovely big wrap cape type things

Is it silly to think that I can manage the whole of winter without a proper coat?

Depends on how cold it is this winter and how warmly you can layer, I think. I found a batwing coat that worked really well when I was very pregnant this time of year (a few years ago now). It was a charity shop find, but just the thing! Worked great because the shape was so roomy.

Also should say, I was always very warm while pregnant, so if that's not true of your experience then it might not work as well. Maybe check charity shops every so often if you have a chance, even a reasonably nice coat in a larger size could work.

Except when it rains - but I just wore one of my husbands waterproofs.

I find it’s inportant to me to look and feel good when pregnant so have spent time on eBay and charity shops picking things out in my own size in maternity from good brands. For winter coat I’ve got a lovely ASOS one for about £15 on eBay which had a huge RRP and wearing it daily now. I am feeling so much better in branded Size 12 maternity bought for cheap rather than just wearing poorly fitted clothes in a larger size. Other parts of me haven’t grown, it’s just the bump so makes sense. Baby due January so sympathise with the winter thing. Have a look at eBay?
