Darker lipliner than lipstick

What does everyone think of the 90s trend of brown/nude lips with darker lip liner that's made a come back?

Nay

marriageisafullonmerger · 10/11/2019 09:46

Glad I asked before wearing it out somewhere important Grin

I like itGrin

amiapropermum · 10/11/2019 11:40

Nay. You are very pretty but I think it looks a bit daft. I'm 38 so did it first time round though

Bluntness100 · 10/11/2019 12:08

No, it's too harsh, you need to outline your lips and then inside the tip too, then put your lipstick on so it blends.

marriageisafullonmerger · 10/11/2019 12:11

@Bluntness100 like more of an ombré? I'll experiment a bit more. Do you think the colours are ok?

Goodness OP, you have the most stunning eyes, I think you could do whatever the hell you liked to your lips and nobody will notice!

Kaykay06 · 10/11/2019 12:17

Looks nice, and with those eyes you don’t need to do much else, v pretty. The subtle version is really nice but over the top and harsh lines are really not attractive

marriageisafullonmerger · 10/11/2019 12:17

@BinkyandBunty 😳 aw shucks. Thank you, I usually wear glasses which kind of covers them up but am thinking of getting laser eye surgery.

I was wondering if you were wearing coloured contacts, I guess not then! Stunning eye colour. I think the lipline is too harsh and looks as though you've gone outside the natural lipline which I think is a no personally.

marriageisafullonmerger · 10/11/2019 12:29

@Exp1etiveDeLighted I'm definitely in the line, I hate over lining. Maybe the contrast between the colours is making it look that way.
I've blended a bit more and will keep it on today to see how I feel about it 😂

I think it would look better on you if it was slightly subtler, like the pic of Kim K

DixieLandReject · 10/11/2019 12:35

It’s ok depending on the shades. If the liner is only one or two shades darker then I think it can look good but if the liner is dark brown and the lippy is pale nude it can look a bit trashy.

HMArsey · 10/11/2019 12:37

No, it looks like you've tried to make your lips look bigger by extending them with lip liner. The lipstick colour is lovely though.

cocomelon23 · 10/11/2019 12:50

It does look like you've gone outside of your lips with the liner. Ps you are very pretty!

QuantumEntanglement · 10/11/2019 13:56

Sorry OP, it’s a nay from me too. The liner is just too stark a contrast to the lip color, then not blended enough - it’s just one step away from the 90s.

Think about it, KK has a gazillion make up artists and stylists with hours and mad skills at their disposal to help make her look like that - it’s her job to look like that. Unless you have the same time, skill and money to match and blend colors and apply, you’re never going to get a result like hers. Also, with eyes like yours you don’t need exaggeratedly overdone lips.

ambereeree · 10/11/2019 14:05

Actually looks OP. It's not the full on dark brown liner and beige pink lips from the 90s

JMAngel1 · 10/11/2019 17:57

I love it , did it the first time around and did it last night - has to be brown tones though like yours MAC whirl is fab.
Your skin is beautiful.

marriageisafullonmerger · 10/11/2019 18:09

@JMAngel1 I am actually quite pleased with my skin just now actually. I struggled with it when I came off the mini pill a year ago. I was getting break outs and black heads. For environmental reasons I started using grape seed oil and a hot face cloth to remove my make up instead of wipes / cotton wool and cleansers etc. It's been a revelation! My skin has improved so so much!
I've also recently started using 'the ordinary' retinoid in squalane on my face and chest most evenings after noticing some fine lines. It really makes my skin glow and look younger.

Just realised I sound like an advert Grin promise I don't have shares in either grape seed oil or the ordinary.
