How do you wear your jeans with boots in winter, when it's too cold for bare ankles?

How do you style your jeans and shoes when it's too cold to have some ankle on show? When it's milder, I wear trainers with cropped or rolled up at the cuff jeans. My legs are short. The jeans never seem to sit right on boots when it's too cold to have bare ankles.

I’ve bought some knee high socks to wear and have my jeans rolled up to sit just on the top of the boot when I’m wearing straight jeans. I still tuck skinnies into biker boots

Skinny jeans but I generally switch to skirt and boots

I wear jeans that are a normal length. Works for me!

Skinny jeans with boots that go above the ankle and socks, so mid calf or higher. Ankle boots don't really work for me.

This is why I wear skinny jeans tucked into ankle boots in winter. Everything else is freezing!

I have very short legs, which is why I think it never looks quite right as they seem to make my legs look even shorter. I'm going to look for some biker boots I think, to tuck into skinny jeans. I also tend to switch to skirts and boots for work, but I don't wear skirts when I'm not working.

Yes this is the problem. Fashion is dictating that we show a flash of ankle but it’s too cold!

I tried for a while but I’ve dug my skinnies out and tuck them in. With flat biker boots I’ll wear thick socks too.

Um..I don’t wear cropped/rolled-up jeans when it’s too cold to have ankle on show. Because it’s too cold to have ankle on show.

I disregard what fashion says and wear biker boots which support my feet and allow me to tuck jeans in.

Although I did see an article a few days ago about ankle scarves which apparently are set to be the next big thing!

I wear knee socks

If you’re 16/17 like my dd and her friends you show your ankles and brave the cold!

If you’re nearly 40 like me you say fuck that and wear jeans and boots that actually keep you warm.

Socks. Has everyone forgotten about socks? I know the retailers are styling everything with bare ankles but we need not comply 😁

Seriously though, this is a stupid fashion that I wish would just die away because it’s difficult to get right. An don’t get me started on ankle flapping wide legs. In my yoof it was a style that only ever looked vaguely cool on Jarvis Cocker. I just can’t do it.

I wear skirts and dresses.
Most retailers and fashion images portray my outfit styles with NO leg coverings at all!

This does not make me go out with bare legs and mini skirts in winter.

I doubt much of the detailing in imagery is supposed to be taken Seriously.

Ankle out in winter? No way. Normal boots and skinny jeans inside.

Pinterest suggested keeping them rolled up and just wearing taller boots with them. it did look better with heeled boots but I’m not doing that

Either put them away until spring, or tuck them into some lovely calf-length or higher boots.

Or channel the Bay City Rollers / Bill Oddie and wear statement socks

I wear boots - chunky or colorful socks - jeans.

Or, I just have my ankles out. I've never really found they get that cold but I live in the south and potentially wouldn't have been so cavalier when I lived north of the wall.
