Embarrassingly obvious fake?

Inspired by kind and brilliant posters on another thread, I wondered if I could borrow some collective eyes (and constructive feedback!)

I bought a lovely leather handbag in a charity shop a few years ago for about £10. Used it a bit but then felt like it was really good, thick, heavy quality and wanted to check it wasn't anything special. A friend asked if it was a real mulberry? To which I went ????? I have done some googling and, while it looks like a reasonable knock off, the serial number is a known fake.

Now I'm too embarrassed to use it in case people can just glance and think "how SAD that person is with their awful obvious fake!"

So. Would you be so kind as to tell me whether it looks cringey try hard obvious fake or reasonable knock off/I can get away with using?! Thanks!

Anyone who has the time to know enough about handbags to spot a fake, and then to take the time to look at yours long enough to judge is probably not someone whose opinion you need to worry too much about.

Aww I used to have a really good Roxanne fake. I loved that bag, until it got stolen!

I have a lovely fake LV handbag. I have had it for 15 years, I don't use it all the time but it comes out every autumn & winter because the colour goes with the clothes & boots I usually wear. It is gorgeous, not one of those plastic fake ones that you see on seaside markets, but a really well made leather one. I always feel really well dressed when I use it, even though I have several other brand genuine bags that cost a lot more money, I always go back to my fake LV. It has often been admired when other people see it & don't believe that it is a fake. If you like your bag, then use it & enjoy it, most people aren't going to get close enough to see it is a fake & are probably envious that you can afford to own such an expensive bag.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the time.

@Sexnotgender that is the most bizarre thing! I’m 99.9% sure that is a picture of my bag from The Purse Forum!! I haven’t been on there for years but I’ll have to go and check now. My first Roxanne was a preloved olive Darwin that the front pocket strap fell off as soon as I used it and had to get it repaired. I used to buy and sell lots of Mulberrys and always used my Barcelona chair as a backdrop.

Haha! Sorry @tattiepants I just nicked the first olive Roxanne I foundGrin

I’ve not been on TPF for ages either. It’s bad for my bank balance.

TattiePants · 08/11/2019 08:06

@sexnotgender I’ve not been tempted to buy anything for years, not since the prices went up, the leather quality went down and some of the designs became.....questionable! I still follow a few Mulberry FB pages in case I spot a lovely oldie.

Sexnotgender · 08/11/2019 08:13

I’ve not bought anything new either. My last new purchase was the valentines Alexa which was at least 5 years ago I think.
Other than that it’s oldies all the way!! Had a few bargains on eBay though. This thread reminded me of my emerald Roxanne which might get an outing today.

TattiePants · 08/11/2019 08:47

I think my last one was an Elgin in near perfect condition. Definitely get your Roxie out today. At one time I had 20+ Mulberrys but I sold lots of them as I now work from home and they just weren’t getting used. I still have 10-12 bags, many still not being used. I did get my Polly Push Lock out this week for a shopping trip and really need to make an effort to use the others.

Sexnotgender · 08/11/2019 09:23

I need to make an effort to use mine more too, I think I have about 15 but I use 3 regularly. Can’t bring myself to sell any though 😏
