What style of trousers is stylish these day?

Help, oh stylish ones. I need new trousers. For work. Smart/casual type workplace (no jeans, no suits). All mine are looking scruffy or frumpy.

My ideal style would be a cross between chic and hip! Although it's more often a bit plain, eg skinny or wide leg trousers with merino wool sweaters.

I want some nice, ideally not skinny (bit bored of that look) trousers that don't make me feel like I work in a suburban high street bank (no offence if you do - you're probably much more stylish than me!). Must be reasonably comfortable and not impractical (ie no cropped trousers in winter!). Have to look good with brogues (or poss flat ankle boots). I don't, and will never, wear heels or any type of delicate shoe! Any ideas (ideally with pictures!)?

I'm 43, 5'7" and a size 10.

See, I just don't get the cropped wide leg thing. Don't legs get cold? I can't stand being cold!

Depending on the style and fabric of cropped trousers, you can wear in cold weather with socks and eg brogues or boots.

Can you wear tights with cropped wide legs?

I think that can work, yes. Worth trying with different types of footwear to see what works.

I’m fancying some wool men’s slouchy trousers to go with Chelsea boots/dr martens. I don’t know where to get these but in my head they look good.

I am a similar build and like a high waisted tapered leg. I recently bought these during the 20% f&f discount weekend. As per with M&S, ignore the styling online and the reviews which say they are see through - they are not. But they are a good price, and look great with brogues with invisible or ankle socks or trainers - I can wear white or black plain Common Projects trainers for work . I am in between an 8-10 at M&S and actually bought both sizes. The slightly slouchy 10 looks a bit more casual.
